Cross posted from another thread because it seems to belong here:

Testudo has no information on financial aid for my daughter. Under My Documents it says:

"No documents are found for 2009-2010."

There's no information under My Awards or My Budget either, just "not yet created" messages. However, My Current Status is:

"Thank you for submitting all the requested documentation needed to award financial assistance. Your file is now complete. You will receive an e-mail when your Award Notification is ready for review or you may continue to check this web site for any changes."

We did the FAFSA back in January using estimates, but have not filed taxes yet or made FAFSA corrections.

I guess UMD has just not dealt with her account yet. Still hoping for some merit aid, but not optimistic (IS, SAT 1960, WGPA 4.1, CP Scholars, Education major).

Well I guess all I had to do was complain on here that they are slow, because my daughter's financial aid number are now posted on Testudo. No hint of any merit awards, but I'm not sure if it would show up here because the Total need is negative:

TOTAL NEED -$22,717.0
UNMET NEED $0.00

When the total need is positive (cost is higher than the expected family contribution), I would think that the difference between total need and unmet need would be any cost not covered by merit scholarships, loans, grant, etc.

still nothing on D's fin aid award, except the $5K discrepancy between need/unmet. It would be easier on all of us if they just disabled the link until they have EVERYTHING posted there, hahaha!!!

Not to mention about $7000 of the $12000 that they offered is loans. So they covered approximately 13% for me. And I got all my stuff in on time, too.

Any idea why my award is so low? Is it just that I'm out of state?

ikat im in the same situation lol im from NY, EFC is 2000, and they gave me 16800 total, 8000 of which are loans..i guess UMaryland is out of the question for me lol

there is less available for OOS because the the state grants can only go to IS. Plus they are just a big public school and that is the way it is at most of them for OOS, unfortunately.

My total need and unmet need are both negative, with my total need being lower (more negative) than my unmet. Technically that means that after financial aid I have to pay more money. What's going on?

We're in-state, and according to the web page "as of such-and-such date" he was offered a very small $$ of Unsub Stafford loans at almost 7%. That's it. Does the date thing mean that there could be more coming? Pretty please? I don't have any idea how they expect that we can afford this, even in-state.
