Thank you letter from admission officer

My friend is in another high school, and he applied to Wharton ED, too. My friend worked for this person and had this person write a recommendation letter. The person who wrote his recommendation got a thank you letter from the international admission director for supporting my friend’s candiday, and this person works in asia, and is also a wharton alumni.

what does it mean when the admission officer writes a thank you letter to this person? who gets these thank you letters?
Does that mean my friend has a better chance of getting into Penn than i do??? :-(

I guess the only person who can answer your questions is an adcom. And you won't find one on this board...

wow, the person actually got a thank you letter?
Maybe he is a well-known alumni whom the admission officers know?
I guess it might increase your friend's chance.

The person who wrote my supp rec also got a Thank You. I think it's just a confirmation that they received their letter.

My Aunt who wrote a rec for me got a cordial thank you from Dean Stetson, I assume this is the same thing as what you guys got.
