Hey for thanksgiving are we only off Thursday through Sunday? How do classes work during that time? Is it possible to leave a day earlier?

My dad is trying to order my plane tickets back down to SoCal but I'm trying to figure out if it would be fine to take a flight on Wednesday even though I have class...

There are no classes on Thursday or Friday.

Many students skip classes on Wednesday to go home earlier. It depends on how important that class to you and if attendance matters, etc.

I recommend getting to airport at least 1.5 hrs if not 2 before your flight departs b/c it gets really crowded. Also, it can take up to an hour to get to the airport depending on bus & bart times.

Any classes during Thursday through Sunday are canceled because it is a school holiday. However, some professors might have make up sessions for these lost lecture & discussion days at different times, so you have to look out for that.

If you do have class on Wednesday, you can leave just as long as you believe it is okay for you to do so. Classes will still be held and as long as you believe you can miss it, then its okay. Sometimes teachers like to make the Wednesday lecture before Thanksgiving to be important, like my Econ 1 professor, who decided to hold the midterm during the Wednesday lecture. This was especially hard on all those people who live far away. Hopefully you won't fall into the same situation.

Chem 1A usually counts attendance through clicker quizzes but they were nice and didn't give any that day.

Seminar will most likely be cancelled/most people won't show up/it's P/NP right?

R&C courses usually give you say, 3 unexcused absences before it hurts your grade... something like that, so it should be fine.

Before you book your tickets, you should look to see if there are any tests/quizzes/papers/etc due on that day. I think some Physics class last year had a midterm on that day.

umm, chem 1a lab, if you miss one, you're dropped from the class.

but i might not remember clearly-- chem1a might have had no lab that week for all students. i'm not 100% sure though so don't take my word for it.
