Thanksgiving traffic

Okay - how bad is it? I'm assuming trying to drive from San Diego to UCLA and back on Wednesday afternoon/evening would be horrendous. Have any of you seen it then?

Also, how bad would it be to get from UCLA to Union station on Wednesday evening?

Finally, I assume that Thursday morning the freeways would be great. Have any of you seen what the LA freeways are like on Thanksgiving day? Is this a correct assumption?

Yeah Wednesday would probably be insane - not so much Northbound however. There will be some traffic through northern Orange County and parts of LA, but southbound will probably be a parking lot.

If Veteran's Day is any indication...it's bad. It took me about 4 - 4.5 hours to get to UCLA from UCSD.

The traffic is still usually bad on thursday morning- we used to do OC->the Valley on Thanksgiving and it was awful.

i'm soooo ready for the breeeak...

Thanks for the feedback. I was hoping Thursday would be okay. I suppose the return round trip Sunday will be lousy too.

I've done the 5 versus 2 hour trip before and it was no fun.

my mom came once to pick me up and spend 4 hrs in traffic round trip. AFter that i take the bus :) Honestly, its much easier taking the bus because you save a ton of gas and time (on the drivers part).

The traffic is awful throughout LA during Thanksgiving, not just around UCLA.

how far are you bruinboy

Traffic is horrendous. The cars won't move!

which bus do you take bruinboy?

around what time are you guys referring to?

culver city 6 to the airport. then use metro-rail from there

Vega- ALL times on Wed/thursday morning. Constant friday rush-hour style traffic allllllll day.

Even say late at night (past 8PM)?

yeah it probably wont be bad after 8.
in fact, if you avoid the freeways it'll be the status quo. which is bad anyway.

No, 405 and 10 are still bad after 8, but it's better than 6. It probably needs more than an hour from UCLA to Union Station.

405 on friday: bad all day, but gets worse as you get later and later into the evening. (basically leave asap on friday). leaving at 12 instead of 2 will save you 30 min if you're on 405 south.

I think he can avoid 405 by driving to Bundy Drive, cuz there's a 10 freeway after Olypmic Blvd.

or he can choose either Overland or National. It's much near, although he has to drive to Palms.
