That one "C" I got

Sophomore Year Classes (1st and 2nd Semester)
AP Euro - A / A
H Chem - B / B
H Alg 2/Trig - C / B <<<<<<<<<<<<<
H English - A / A
Spanish 2 - B / A

Junior Year Classes (1st and 2nd Semester)
AP USH - A /A
H Anatomy - A / A
Pre-Calc - A / A
AP Lang - A / A
Spanish 3 - A / A

How much will that hurt me? But how will colleges look at this if I have a 2360 SAT I and an 800 on the SAT II Math 2?
I'm planning to apply to a couple of top schools

Thanks! :)

I also would like to know this as well. Will 1 or 2 bad grades matter if you have a fairly good GPA and SAT?

You know there’s a really wide expectations gap between HYPSM and your local community college – you need to indicate your preferred selection of schools. You also need to mention your class rank.

One C is not going to kill your chances of acceptance. Stop worrying about this one. Make your college list, complete your applications on time, and see what your results are.

Rank: 39/776

Looking to apply to McGill, UC’s (LA,Berkeley,San Diego), Tufts, Columbia ED or NYU Stern ED

bump 10char

Columbia might be a fair reach – it’s not just the C but the 4 B’s you also got. Nevertheless, you’re just on the edge of the top 5% and have a top-notch SAT score. Maybe with an outstanding essay and great extracurriculars, you’ll have a shot. The other schools are much more likely acceptances.

looks to me like you’re a really bright kid who didn’t decide grades mattered until about February of your sophomore year. YOu brought up those grades and have straight As in harder courses since then.

3.2
3.6
4.0
4.0

No harm, no foul.

Actually, since most coursesare cumulative in nature over an entire year, I have always wondered whether adcoms discount 1st semester grades in comparison to 2nd semester (FINAL) grades in full year courses. I suspect they don’t overtly, but subjectively may.
