Hello everyone.

My daughter can now take a breath as she received notification today from OCU. She was accepted into the theater department with a nice scholarship as well as the B of A with a major in music.

I'm a little confused as to the Statement of Intent - due date l/13?

umm I just want to make a correction- Cal State Fullerton was non-audition. They do a cut after sophomore year (from 50 to around 10 I think).

I'm not submitting this as gospel. But, I believe they are just looking for you to accept the scholarship. It's not a firm committment to the school and you can still choose to go elsewhere. It's just that you do accept the scholarship. You should still check on it, but it's not something to be terribly concerned with.

I love to see this list growing, Congrats! BTW, if you highlight the most recent list, right click your mouse, choose copy, go to the post reply, right click mouse again and choose paste, you'll transfer the list. Then all you have to do is add your name & acceptance (alphabetically PLEASE :) )

Jess got the rejection letter from U of Florida's BFA program today. No surprise there as it's a very small program (that will take at most 6 kids into the MT side this year) and it was her first audition. It was good to get the first audition under her belt at UF which was not a school that she had on her "most wanted" list. Gearing up for January (Syracuse and UCF) and then the big crunch in February!

Scogor,

I appreciate your willingness to share rejections as well as acceptances, I know you are not alone and that others are holding back posting, acceptances as well as rejections, for whatever reasons. In the end, I expect all of the kids will have experienced a rejection or two, and it's important that others following in our footsteps know that this is par for the course. I plan to let others know of my D's progress as we go, because it was because of this forum that she is as knowledgeable and prepared as she is, for successes and stumbling blocks. (I don't like the F word :) ) In the end I believe the majority of the kids will be better off with their final decisions, because they knew so much about the programs from this site to begin with, enabling them to apply to schools that they knew they were suited for, in my D's case, ones that had a strong dance component. It's a little early in the game to post rejections here as a list I think, as I am sure most people are waiting for at least one suitable acceptance first. If it hasn't happened in this early round, I don't blame them for waiting as it must be difficult not having anything definite yet.
Hang in there, and if you don't think you have a safety, most schools are still accepting applications. Good luck to all in the new year with your auditions.

I finally recieved my notification from OCU, after waiting what seemed especially long. I didn't end up getting into MT, which was disappointing, but i was offered the BA in theatre and music. From the talent I encountered while there, I see that as a very good thing.
I'm heavily considering taking the BA in music offer, but still need to think it over. I absolutely loved the faculty i talked to and the overall atmosphere that focusing on voice after my MT associates degree might not be a bad choice.
