The classes that screwed you up

I think most people here have pretty high GPA, however, I think not everybody is having a perfect 4.0.

I just wonder, what are the classes that screwed you up( let's say not getting A)? What classes that you have taken seem more difficult than average?

So far, I find History is the one I'm having trouble with..

I got a C+ in film history with a teacher that had ridiculous standards. I later went to pickaprof and found out that the average GPA that she gives is about 1.6

Statistics.

It was at 7:30 in the morning and in a lecture hall of 200. It’s not that it was terribly hard, yet the conditions that I listed made it really hard to get too into it…

Got a “c”

200 level philosophy classes offered at SBCC (and, I assume, elsewhere) were really challenging. I did receive A’s, but that’s not to say I didn’t have to work my ass off getting them. I think only two, maybe three were given out in each class (Modern, Contemporary - both with Bobro). Also, the reading was incredibly dense / time consuming and, sometimes, equally frustrating. Papers took me a minimum 10 hours. Tests were all short answer or essay formatted, which meant actually having to remember the material rather than simply recognize it (multiple choice). Sitting through lecture was often painful. These types of classes classes tend to attract kids with that holier-than-thou attitude that makes them think they’re above the reading, and therefore exempt from doing it. They’re the ones who ask the most questions (that have already been answered) and make the most tangential comments, usually without even chance reference to anything remotely relevant. I could go on…

Also, college algebra can suck a dyck.

Environmental Economics and Policy: A-
Byzantine Art (Upper division art history): A-

2 Poli sci classes
2 B’s
:(

Chemistry and Calculus! Got Bs in those classes

Political science bothers me ,too.

Pre-Calculus. The good news is that I’m done with math forever, I think. The bad news is that it put a pretty hefty dent in my transcript.

I haven’t really had these types of classes, but I have had courses where the professor seems disinterested or lost their interest in their field of study and pass on this cynicism to future students. I’m not trying to insult their methods, but there are students who have an interest in a particular field who are turned away from professors who just aren’t able to convey the subject in a way that made them interested in the first place. Agree?

The lowest grade I have received to date is a B- in a 4 unit english class. Im a math major, so writing essays are not my speciality. I atleast managed to get a B+ in sophomore english.

“Environmental Economics and Policy: A-
Byzantine Art (Upper division art history): A-”

I really love that my school doesn’t have - or +. I got 3 A-s in one semester.

Statistics. Fuey.

agree with post above. man, all of these "A"s in this thread…I thought we were talking about sad things.

Political Science

Environmental Science

The PS professor was old as hell and did not approve of any political beliefs outside of his own.

The ENVS professor was like 2 years removed from india and couldn’t speak english to save her life. I wanted to slap her every day.

hahahaha!!

I was fine until last semester, when I got a D in calculus (my first relevant D ever) and an F in **speech/b.

Half of my schedule this semester is just retaking those two damn classes. Speech is an easy A, and calculus is at least an easy C, but I had a severe case of premature senioritis. =/

i think it really depends on what kind of professor you get, cuz you can have a really nice one for a hard class and that makes it all better.

anyway, cell bio ruined my life [got a B-]

Physics - Electromagnetism.

::cringe::

First ‘B’ ever.

I’m quite embarrassed to say that I have a few W’s from P.E. classes. I was taking them over the summer, and ended up not having the time for them. Since it was summer the drop-before-W deadline was only a week. I dropped them like two days later :(
