What's everyone's stats that are still in prelim review. I highly doubt that with such a wide range of us applying that all of us got rejected. I'll post mine:

Black Male from NJ
Small Public Hs, not ranked.
11/72 (I think ti went up but I think this is what USC saw)
3.4 or 3.5 UW (Not sure) GPA 3.95 W GPA
2040 SATs 1380/1600 (or 90, not sure about math score) (650 M, 730 CR, 660 W)
Worked job since 14, some real estate office work as well, used to run track, deca club, help out church, etc.

I know at least one other person in prelim review has like an 1820 SAT and a 4.0 UW and another has like a 3.9 UW and like a 33 ACT so unless theirs a pattern all we can do is look at each others stats. IT seems like theres no real reason why we're still stuck in prelim, other than most of us being in jersey/pa.

My D has been in prelim review for 2 months - her SAT would rank 9th highest out of the 42 that CCers have posted on the Stats Profile for USC - well above the 75th percentile for entering students - she's ranked #1 in her class, and her ECs and honors are exceptionally strong. I'm hopeful that the processing and notification order isn't indicative of anything in particular.

I'm still stuck on that too. =/ I sent in my midyear grades once they came out, so they were in before they could ask. xD Maybe I should e-mail them? Maybe if we bug them enough, something will get done? I dunno, it's just frustrating because the status hasn't changed since January 17th.

I'm Hispanic Female from TX
I guess large public school. About 2500 kids.
10/459
4.0UW and a 4.68W
1850 SAT (600M, 630W, 620CR.)
760 Spanish, 610 US History, and 680 Lit for SAT II
3 years ACademic Decathlon, 2 years Teen Court, 2 years NHS, volunteered at Salvation Army, two elementary schools, and Union Gospel Mission.

My daughter has been stuck on "completed preliminary review" since 2/19.
She emailed her admissions official and he said they were in the process of reviewing her application. He thanked her for sending in her fall grades without having to be asked and then he asked her several questions about her activities. So, I guess that means she is probably still in the running....

We're keeping our fingers crossed, not only for ourselves, but all of the students who really want to get into this school!

Remember that we don't know how they are working through the applicants. Maybe it's alphabetical or maybe each school is working through their own pile. Maybe each regional admissions counselor has a stack from his area he's responsible for. I think it's really doubtful that they have this big pile of 7,000 or so applications that they're going to accept and they bother to send them out in order of which applicant is "best".

In any case, it doesn't seem like those status reviews are much help in knowing what's going on.

timely -- that's very true, except they clearly have been letting THE strongest students know their decisions much sooner, which really sucks for everybody

2120 superscored SAT- 770 W, 680 CR and 670 M

ACLU since fall 06. NHS since fall 06. GSA since fall 05. Girl Scout camp Counselor-in-training after 10th grade and worked all summer at the camp after 11th grade. I've volunteered 10-12 hours a month at an animal shelter since 2/2007

Life challenges that I wrote about in my essay

dont worry guys...i'm guessing they're just behind on updating the status. heck, my friend already got accepted and his status still says that they're under preliminary review -_-

My status has been the same since Jan 17th.

We have completed a preliminary review of your application. We sometimes request additional information (senior-year grades, for example), so be sure to watch the mail. You may submit senior year grades at www.usc.edu/MDYResponse, even if we did not specifically request them. We are continuing to review applications and expect to mail notification of a decision by April 1st.

So then, I e-mailed my counselor to ask why my status hasn't changed and this was the reply:

Don’t worry—I double checked your file and you’re all set. That’s just our generic message for students whose files are complete.

See SVG, that's the thing, some people I have seen still in prelim review have been higher than many of the acceptees, and there are some acceptees that are lower than most of the people still in prelim.

Ya, I have been on "Completed Prelim Review" since January 1st, so I called the admissions office today and asked if they had received my mid-year greades. He said that they had gotten everything in and that I should not look at the online updates because they have been screwy.

guess what guys? My status finally changed (I just checked for the first time in 2 days) to
Your application is being reviewed by the admission committee. We will mail notification of their decision by April 1. If for some reason you don't receive our written notice, we will be happy to provide the results over the phone beginning April 11th.

Here's the kicker... it still says "last updated 1/11 at 7:18:something AM." That's what it's been since it changed to "we;ve completed a preliminary review"
