I tend to think that (with some exceptions -- for example, degenerative diseases, or middle school) life just gets better as it goes on. Or at least I'd like to think that, and I'd like to live my life so that that's true.

Yeah that's what I like to believe. Especially the philosophy that getting older brings more wisdom, and a more respectful place in society.

Middle school was definitely the worst three years of my life.

High school was a really good time for me. I've always found it interesting that the teachers and administrators would always be willing to bend or even ignore the rules for the top students (e.g., athletes, class council/student assembly officers, academic high-achievers, and other people really involved with the school), but did not hesitate to catch everyone else for really insignificant things.

^ That's life

stele32, i agree, my middle school years were horrible.
high school is much much better academically, and i can't rave enough about the intellectual atmosphere at my school. but socially...well, let's just say that's been a disaster.
"The high school years are the best years of your life" better not be true...otherwise, i think i'll go off and become a hermit.

College years>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>HS and I liked HS and had a good time.

haha, no

(10 char)

Yeah the middle school years were definitely my worst too.

To me the high school (and middle school) years were the BEST years of my life.

I just graduated from a large public hs last May and am going to attend at a well-known university this fall. I wasnt by no mean a football player, pimp, popular prep, or anything like that. But still I'm already missing it and I think i will never be able to have such great years which includes turmoil, confusion, headache, stress, pressure, friends and breakingups.

I think you'll get all that in college too--duh

And highschool sux so who ever said that high school years are the best is of their rocker

I think that statement is meant to be like...while you're in high school, those are the best years...
but while you're in college, THOSE should be your best years...

In any case, I don't think high school will be the highlight of my life, that would be kind of sad.

I think the best years are always ahead. High school for me was good, but not great. Yea, I was successful with my academics and ECs, but it wasn't fun. It wasn't the type of fun you see in the movies. Lol I know are just movies but still. I CANNOT wait to go to college. It just seems like so much fun.

I think there is a peak though lol. Like 40...after that I will probably say "sigh i wish I were 20 again"
Right now 40 seems so old...

Oh, 40 isn't that old... Trust me... :-)

High school was the worst time of my life. College was 100% better, and there have been lots of wonderful times since. A few bad times, yes, but lots of good times. I always heard college was the best time of life, so I was happy to find that it wasn't all downhill after that. Life is what you make it, and people can be happy at any age and in any stage.

Very well-said. And I'm sorry if the "40=old" remark was in any way offensive.

Actually, for some reason 40 doesn't seem old to me at all. Even 50's is ok. Maybe its bc im an only child and grew up around a lot of adults.
