The Indian Thread #19

What exams. (Jan SAT ? or Indian entrance exams?)

^Indian entrance.

Still?
I know you’ll say no-safety-for-int’ls-asking-for-aid but a 2250 score and you feel you’ll not get accepted ANYWHERE you’ve applied?

^My parents will not be sending me to the safeties (Hampshire and Trinity) I have applied to, nor even my mid-reaches (still applied though).

It’s the Ivy League (or equivalent) or nothing.

Now you might understand my anxiety, since I haven’t prepared for IIT/AIEEE either.

Come to think of it, this whole idea of SAT and the like was a fool’s hope.

SAT is offered at so many places. WHY is there specifically a India/Pakistan surcharge?

^Apparently it’s a security surcharge. I researched that too. It’s a bit ridiculous, at least for India.

Security against terrorists attempting to steal the SAT question papers?

^Good luck rsaxena. I can imagine the pressure you’re under.

^Thank you. Everybody needs luck in this process (so unlike the Indian system).

Haha, just remember - what’s meant to be, will be.
You’re only applying to Ivies? That is definitely a crapshoot. Are the Ivies even that great for engineering? Why don’t you apply to a few more schools (top 20-30 range). If money is a concern, there are fee waivers.
Although it might be too late to apply now anyway…

Hey, you can always try transferring next year though!

Bahaha, I try to be such an optimist.

Except Pton & Cornell, none.

Rsaxena: You do believe that you have a chance at the ivies, don’t you? Why else would you apply and go through this entire process.

And yeah, did you fill up JEE/BITSAT/EEE/VIT/whatever yet?

No, but that’s where my parents might agree to send me if I have to go to the US.

My major is Middle Eastern studies or something of the sort.

I believe it yes, but for colleges like the Ivy League and the equivalent, it’s only a fool’s hope for average people like me (no Nobel Prizes yet).

JEE, AIEEE done. Don’t tell me you’ll be writing VIT.

"I believe it yes, but for colleges like the Ivy League and the equivalent, it’s only a fool’s hope for average people like me (no Nobel Prizes yet). "

It’s all about a distinguished story which sets you apart from thousands of other desperate-to-go-to-college kids and not just your achievements.

True true. My statement was a bit sarcastic in nature.

Princeton is not an engineering school!

Anyway, who cares if they’re good for engineering or not, you’ll get the ivy league stamp which will open doors everywhere.

ani, Princeton does have good engineering program. I have looked at their EE program very closely. It is very good.

I hear Dell’s hiring

^ merci beaucoup

Pton’s CS is also V. Good

what is the purpose of this thread?
