Right now, I am filing my Visa application, already got the I-20 from Brown. I will be giving the ACTs in June at USIEF.
Tizil, You know I already have. Which reminds me, I am still waiting for that PM.

Working on it as we speak :)

Thank you Tizil ![]()
Can anyone here tell me, Is getting a F1 visa for summer programs hard??

^It shouldn’t be hard, make sure you show them your current grades and be prepared to talk about your current high school. (Also don’t mention, unless asked, about applying to US universities next year). Show funding and ticket and you need to return so as to start your 12th school year. Also be prepared for the question - how is the course going to help you in your high school. And DO NOT say it will help me apply to US colleges next year. Just talk about your interests in course and how it helps to go beyond what is taught in high school.
Take your high school transcripts with you.

Yup, I second that. It’s my center for all of the AP’s. A lot of room for all your stuff, cool classrooms and comfortable seats.

No, not yet. ![]()
I will, though, as soon as AP’s get over.

Great advice, Tizil. I’m trying to get an internship with an architectural firm; hopefully, I’ll be able to do it in June before EPGY.

F16P, do I need the ticket before the interview?? Also, I cannot understand how to get a visa interview. I filled my DS-160, and got a confirmation. But I can’t find a link for the interview.
Thank you for the reply F16P :)

@idream, decided on EPGY??

^do you need to schedule it online or do you need to call to schedule an appointment?

by the way, have you paid the sevis fee already? or is it not needed for summer programs?

Mrinal -Not sure of the current process. As far as I remember you have to pay a fee and get interview date online.

Just check with your local consulate office.

Pay the visa application fee at an approved HDFC bank (pdf 65kb). You must wait one business day before using the receipt to make your appointment.

Make your appointment through the VFS website. You cannot make an appointment without your DS-160 barcode number and HDFC fee receipt.

https://www.vfs-usa.co.in/USIndia/Index.html

No, ticket is not required for visa but I think when you enter here, they may ask to see it or they may not.

@abscal - It is better to direct these questions at the college international office and the US consulate in your place of residence.

Yeah Mrinal, I’ll be attending :)

Tired _

Can someone teach me Calculus BC in 10 hours?

Rhetorical

Just curious, how are the AP tests compared to indian high school (12th) standards. I mean if you have done sciences, is it the same or easier or harder? Yes, people here are stressed with AP testing right now.

[ul]
[li]AP Chemistry: 11th grade Chemistry diluted down to non-calculator-based-calculation MCQs + Kinetics + Electrochemistry. Free Response Questions (Essays) are pretty easy.[/li][li]AP Physics C (Mech): 11th grade Physics diluted to MCQs and FRQs.[/li][li]AP Microeconomics/Macroeconomics: 12th grade economics in the form of application based MCQs and definitions - but mostly application.[/li][li]AP English Lit. & Comp.: There’s no valid grounds for comparison with CBSE English. AP Eng. Lit. focuses much more on specific inferences (what/why/how) in its three essays. MCQs are an advanced version of SAT CR and the test also assumes the student’s knowledge of literary terms in both prose and poetry.[/li][/ul]

Those are the ones I can speak for.

Thanks. I have looked at the AP bio. The material is very detailed but I think in India, the lab practicals are part of the exam and I remember that being stressful. If you can’t get the results expected, you are done for.

^ Exactly. Whereas in IB (can’t talk for AP Lab Work) Labs, if the student follows correct procedure or puts at least some thought into design experiments, they’re given a lot of marks. At first, it felt like teachers here are finding excuses to award marks :p

BC Calc exam. Wait, what is Calculus? :p

Thank You for the links F16P, I got an appointment at the Delhi US Embassy. I will get a ticket nonetheless, at least it will show the officer concrete travel plans. :)

@abs: Yup, you can be assigned an appointment online, from the links that F16P provided. I paid the SEVIS fee at HDFC bank.

@idream: Got the I-20?? How is the ACT prep going??

I still cant get a hang of the reading section, constantly getting 30s…

Tizil: yes, i have pretty much made a rough draft for essay- the main points? But they all are cerebrally noted (:P) - will jot it down someplace concrete.
I am writing 4-5 essays in total, will choose the bes ones to send ![]()
i have put a deadline in june for completing my essays.

As for the SATs, how strict are the USIEF people? At st michaels, they can still give one an extra time of 1-2 minutes at the end of the test! ![]()
I heard the american embassy people are verrryyy strict! :|

@idream: ah, i remember the hectic EPGY process -_- applied last year! It was tidious, but then it also gave me a rough idea of how will i be filling-out the college-apps! ![]()
Which course are ya interested in for EPGY?
I didnt apply this year for 2 reasons! 1- 12th grade studies.
2- i will be interning at a local research center
in june.
And for the fact that they never give much of financial aid! :/

Why does it feels like theres no other '17er other than me, mrinal and idream? O.o

Quick question?
So i missed my deadline of June SAT, when i was planning to take my BioM! i have 3 more turns left until the deadlines, in which i have to take 3 subject tests and 1 reasoning test again!
I have planned that i’ll take SAT1 in october and all 3 subject tests in november so that i still have one failsafe december turn! What do u people suggest? Comment?!

Dude, I second that. It feels as if all the 17’ers are suddenly extinct. Guess they will come around as the application process starts or closer to the D-Day. :D

Why don’t you try to give the September ACT, October SAT II. If you still can’t score much in these dates, you will have a chance at another ACT and a SAT test date. That should be safe :)

No, not yet Mrinal. I haven’t yet paid the complete tuition. Its just been so hectic with the SAT, AP’s that I haven’t come around to even reading the EPGY student information packet! I think I’ll do it tomorrow once I’m done with Calc, which is killing me.

Rew, so you did not attend last year?
