Thanks! I literally had a mini panic moment staring into my closet

LOL, I have no idea. Might be because of where I live. I’m just super psyched

oh wow… they really do respond quickly… got my interview email today, submitted halloween night. Do we assume that the interviewer has read our application?

I’m outside of NYC, so there’s plenty of alumni.

I googled my interviewer and he’s a doctor. I selected Economics as my major, unfortunately. But I saw him in a video online and he seems really nice.

I believe the interviewer only knows your name, school, contact info, and intended major. Nada mas.

^I think that is correct

submitted 10/31 got interview letter about 2-3 days ago.

^An actual letter?

Eep! Just got contacted by my interviewer. I haven’t thoroughly googled him yet, but he’s in electrical engineering which is COMPLETELY different from my future interests.

I just contacted by my interviewer, he wants to meet sometime this week ! SO nervous.

Interviewers have not read your application and I have personally declined a resume the one or two times it was offerred to me. As hard as this seems, just relax and show that you have interest in something. It can be especially frustrating to alums to see people we wrote glowing interview reports about get rejected but we don’t know the rest of the application either. I know that other HYP school interviewers do get more of your application information but then again I think our process is better :). I also never google applicants and I think you are kidding yourselves if you think that is helpful in reverse. I loved my time at Yale meeting people in other disciplines and hearing about their interests. It wouldn’t impress me at all if my interviewee had similar interests or career aspirations.

@jgraider

Yeah, I got a letter in the mail with my interviewer’s email address and some other correspondence stapled to it… I emailed my interviewer, but I haven’t gotten a reply.

I guess I need to check my mail then

Thanks for the post, YaleDadandGrad!

My interviewer called me yesterday. Submitted my app in the late hours of Nov. 1st… ; D

OK so I asked my interviewer if he had any preference in terms of dress code. He mentioned that some applicants came in jacket and tie though he didn’t really care. He said that anything “casual but neat” would be fine. What does that mean? I’m pretty sure neat casual = business casual, so should I just go collared shirt, slacks and dress shoes to be safe?

did anybody who did on-campus student interviews get contacted about getting alum interviews?

@MrMeursault.

I think your instincts are correct (collared shirt, slack and shoes).

@luckymeeeee: I have the same question. I know that its possible, but has anyone in this round of applications done an on-campus interview AND received an invitation to do an alumni interview?

I got an email earlier for an interview. She gave me two days to choose from, and both days I will be in Cali for a college visit! Ugh my luck lol
