I would like to thank you for contacting me this morning. We were able to look into the information you provided, and determined that, in fact, you did access your decision on the application status system.

If you would like to read additional information concerning the our decision site, we have posted a statement on our self service Web site on the log-in page.

Congregations on your admission to the Cornell. This site has been shut down, and will be opened back up at 5:00 PM EST on December 15th, as we originally intended. All official notification letters will be mailed on December 15th as well.

haha, obviously you didn't follow up on the thread's from last night. ;) but either way, that is so awesome man! congrats! and good luck next year; you're in for an exciting time like you have NO IDEA!

SchoolDuh0610, congrats! We will be seeing each other next year, it seems (or maybe not considering Cornell's size)! This whole thing is sooo strange, but in the end, I am immeasurably grateful to have found out today than on thursday.

even though i'm in, i wish i would have waited for the 15th...i've been glorifying the 15th for so long that it would've been really intense to have found out then.

Oh I checked my email at the school library, and I posted without even looking at any of the threads. Hahah home now.

Sorry, Seicheong and any other applicants still waiting for their decisions. I guess I posted without thinking. I was(am) just so excited. Argh. I wish nothing but the best for you guys. No official thread until the 15th, right?

Gregunit... yeah this wasn't the way I wanted to find out. Last night, I was vacillating between feelings of doubt and being so freaked out at the idea that I might be expelled from Cornell before even setting foot in Ithaca! That wasn't my dream acceptance reaction, lol.

I posted out of sheer unthinking exuberance. It's not nearly as fun without everyone posting and going crazy. I will save my online happiness until Dec15. Not posting on this thread anymore. Thanks you guys for putting up with my thoughtlessnessss!!!!

sparticus and i will likely open up official ED acceptance/rejection threads. I think one thread will be only for posting decisioins, and another thread will allow peopel to celebreate/weap/share stats/whatever. The last 'official ED thread' is on like the 12th page w/o the decisions even released. This requires too much reading to see if people got in or not. I just hope that everybody cooperates so it doesn't turn into a mess with figuring out who got in and who didn't.

that'll work. I just dont want people running on and on and on about everything but admissions decisions. I'll start a thread with the ED list of people that was on another thread. We can use your template too. Thanks for posting it!

Yeah, if you started a thread with the list of names, then as people posted (using that template) edit it just so we could see all the decisions at the very top of the thread that would be awesome.

personally I think that such a format is too complex. It would be more useful IMO to see:

Decision
College

GPA:
Rank:
SAT:
Hooks/special factors:

whether we want to admit it or not, those are the really important things in the application. If you're a sports star and were recruited that's the only way athletics seriously affected your decision, and if you're an INTEL finalist or something thats the only way your academic awards seriously affected your decision. If you're an URM and had low stats that's one of the only ways race/ethnicity/gender would affect your decision. See what I mean?

Frankly, almost nobody knows how good their recs were, they can only guess, and most think their essays are pretty good, but really they should only know in comparison to others. Lots of applicants think their ECs are awesome, but they don't matter so much as long as you have them, and many applicants have a full EC list. For ECs to matter you have to be one of the best in your state at least, most likely.

So yeah, that's my two cents on relevant info. THe basic stats, the hook, and your college and decision.

Then we should have a companion thread where you can all talk and ask if you think someone's stats are way out of line with their decison. This way both threads will be useful: one will provide an efficient and easy to read database of information, while the other will facilitate interaction and discussion between ED applicants and also interested RD applicants.
