The MOB/MOG Dress Extravaganza!

I just watched the finale of Queen Charlotte/Bridgerton and I would wear any or all of the dresses in that episode. Just magnificent! But perhaps not the shoes.

Actually, I did work in a local shoe store for one summer. I also bought and wore some new-fangled Famolare shoes with wavy soles for TWO days that wrecked my feet and had me going to a podiatrist who made me wear oxfords with inserts for over a year to help fix my feet. As a teen, i believe i was one only person I ever saw wearing the hideous shoes but they allowed me to walk!

I never again wore any footwear not 100% comfortable!

Oh thatā€™s a shame. I loved them and found them to be very comfortable.

I had a pair of Famolare shoes too. I wore the soles down and discovered that inside the ā€˜wavesā€™ they were hollow.

Just wondering - can I wear a hat to a 5:00 mainly outdoor wedding if sunset isnā€™t until 8:30? Iā€™m supposed to keep head and eyes shaded for some months while eyelid/brow surgery heals. Dress is solid sapphire blue and jewelry silver, so I guess a silver or grey hat? Iā€™ve been looking online but would need more than a bit of feathers and lace, but less than a broad brim sun hat. I donā€™t want to look like either a Royal, Derby goer, or church lady!

Although this is tempting:

You absolutely can wear a hat. It is a ā€œmedical deviceā€ in your case. :sunglasses:

That hat is :star_struck:!! Iā€™d go for something less formal though.

My sonā€™s outdoor wedding last year was at 5 pm. Nobody wore a hat but your medical reasons trump any concerns about what others are wearing. A hat will be fine and silver sounds like a good possibility. Just saw @BunsenBurner post. Agree that something a little less formal might be best.
Good luck!

Marilyn - I think you could definitely wear a hat! An elegant, simple, broad-brimmed one that blocks the sun but still looks dressy would be nice!

@Marilyn - I would look for a hat in sinamay. It will be less fru-fru than organza. Iā€™m not having much success finding silver with my googling, however. You might look on Etsy.

I love hats. We used to attend a Kentucky Derby watch party every year. Inserting a pic with some Iā€™ve worn through the years. These are likely a bit too much for your needs. :joy: I miss attending that party!

I might be in the minority but Iā€™d buy a nice hat that Iā€™d wear again. If $ wasnā€™t a factor Iā€™d love this hat. https://www.nordstrom.com/s/eric-javits-hampton-straw-sun-hat/3925979?origin=coordinating-3925979-0-1-FTR-recbot-recently_viewed_snowplow_mvp&recs_placement=FTR&recs_strategy=recently_viewed_snowplow_mvp&recs_source=recbot&recs_page_type=category&recs_seed=0&color=ANTIQUE

Fun! Light blue would also work; like this:

The dress again:

Worst comes to worst, I can throw in my Happy Hour hat even though itā€™s mainly white (after all, it might not even be sunny).

Thatā€™s a pretty hat. If you think the colors with contrasting piping are too extreme, maybe one of the navy colors (there are two, both look more saphire-ish to me) that are monochromatic.

I do have a couple of hats like that per my post but would like to avoid white, logically. Cost is indeed a factor as I might not even need it. What is the weather in Saratoga Springs at the start of June? Anywhere from the 40ā€™s to the 80ā€™s, I gather!

If you are flying, do think about how youā€™d transport a large hat. Ideally you could avoid paying for extra baggage.

This once claims to be packable, but it might not block enough sun?

Iā€™m treating ourselves to first class and checking a bag anyway, so no issues there.

Pretty hat but no, doesnā€™t appear to block sun unfortunately.

Marilyn - would this work?

Also - I had a similar colored dress and wanted a matching hat for a wedding - I went to Boscovā€™s (not sure if in your area) - one of the very few brick/mortar stores that actually still sells hats!

That that looks nice. It also comes in 2 shades of grey. The lighter grey one looks kind of like silver.

Itā€™s pretty but Iā€™m not sure I like the big double flower with the feather. Currently Iā€™m leaning toward the light blue, especially since all the sheer material works with the sheer sleeves and hem on my dress. Also blue will look better near my face than grey/silver.

Thatā€™s a nice hat. Iā€™m partial to light blue!

Could you put a nice contrasting ribbon around your white hatā€¦that matches your dress?
