So guys, I was rejected and found out there was a mistake in my app. They said I was missing o-chem but I wasnt, then they said I was missing chem lab (I was), but I told them my friend was accepted and he was given a provisional contract stating he must complete the class over summer. I told them I will be taking that class to (I even mentioned it in my original application) and was accepted with a provisional contract as well. Anyways, the Chemistry 14BL's are all full and waitlist full at UCLA Summer Session. What is the chance I'll be able to crash the course, and whats the chance I'll be rescinded if I don't get in?

Try other community colleges if you have to!

UCLA is the only choice since I need 14bL to go along with my 14 series :/

Oh, darn. Sorry Good luck though…!

Talk to the Admission Office about this. Ask them if they can help to move you up on the waiting list.

Call the chem department! See if they can tailor to your special situation by moving you up the waitlist

Wow that sucks… I just saw your other thread that you got in… and now this. Good luck.

Admissions can’t do anything about “moving you up the waiting list”…could you do that in CC?!

Anyways, I really think you should be on the registrar website at all times, because you never know when someone is going to drop that class, considering its during summer. I’m assuming this is Summer Session A? Hopefully someone will have dropped by then. And don’t email the Chemistry department either, they’ll be like: “uhhh…okay…?”
If anything, email the professor ASAP and let them know you’re interested. Some will give you a PTE number, others will keep your name.

Good luck to you!

Go on the site and refresh 24/7!! This is how I got into the courses I needed @ SMC and WLA. Don’t give up, email, call, look at other CC’s, UCB Ext, etc…

Did your friend get in the class?

UCI extension?

Unfortunately, I suspect lab courses are tough to crash. The only experience I can relate is my oldest son at Sacramento State University. He was very low on the waiting list for a Calculus class but was able to crash it because he brought his own chair and the professor let him in the class. On the other hand, he was first on the waiting list for a Physics class but was unable to crash it because there are only so many work stations in the lab and it is not possible for the professor to just say we can take one more student.

I’m pretty sure I HAVE TO TAKE 14BL at ucla because it is a very specific class. Also UCI/CAL EXTENSION would be pretty far away from me. Do people usually get rescinded if they can’t get a class that they said they’d take? My friend is not enrolled in the class either.

I think it will depend on the circumstances as to why you are not enrolled. If you had been assigned a very late priority date for registration for Summer term and the class and waitlist were filled as soon as registration opened you could argue that you planned to take the course, did everything in your power to do so but your registration priority date and how rapidly the class filled made it impossible, it would seem unreasonable to rescind you due to a situation you had no control over.

On the other hand, if the class was still open when you were eligible to enroll in it, and knowing that you had to complete this class before you could enroll at UCLA, but simply did not make the effort to register for it as soon as you were able to, UCLA is likely to say you knew you had to take the course and could have enrolled in it if you had acted promptly but failed to do so. Therefore, since you are at fault for not being enrolled in the class, rescinding you is justified and is the only course of action we can take.

so basically UCLA is saying, “we dont want your money, take the class over the summer or go back to CC/CSU(UC), even though you have completed everything else, it still JUST ISNT ENOUGH”

and you still want to go to that school?

riverside and irvine can still make you a winner you know…

FYI, summer course enrollment began on February 1st.

I know people will drop, but I’m not sure about the professor. :/
