Will UCLA rescind my decision?

I just got accepted by UCLA as a pre-psych major. On my application, I reported that I would take chem 10 (a major prereq) during this quarter (spring.) However, I didn’t do that and I reported that I will instead take it this summer. When I called admissions, they said this will affect my decision because it makes me less competitive and they’ll have to review my application again. Has anyone else gone through anything similar? Do you think they’ll rescind my decision?

No personal experience, but history points to expect a rescind.

From UCLA’s POV, there is no difference between your current situation and someone who lied about having a class/grade on their transcript within their application–they won’t take it lightly.

UCLA is pretty intolerant about cases like this, so I would start looking at your options at the other UCs.

^ Damn.
Sorry OP.

The reason I didn’t take the course was because the class was full at my community college. Do you think there is still a chance of being waitlisted?

Did you explain that you couldn’t get in because the class was full? Is your registration confirmed for the summer? You might want to have a follow up discussion with them that lays these issues out clearly, if you haven’t already done so.

I explained to them that i couldnt get in because the course was full and I plan on taking it in the summer. I made it clear that I will have all 90 units and prereqs done before fall quarter. It’s not possible to register for summer courses yet >.<

What does your admission contract say? How many units will you have at the end of Spring?

If you still have your “Congratulations” banner, it seems they did not change your admission contract as a result of your call. You are supposed to formally report your situation through the portal, not by a call – on the decision letter page, the admission contract tab, there used to be a link to report: “Report a decline in your academic performance and/or changes in your course schedule here.” If you didn’t report this way, you are not doing all you can to help your situation.

A new admission contract, if they so desire to continue considering you, should state that you take whatever class over the summer. They would ask you to prove you are enrolled and then to send your transcript by 9/1. I know this through a friend’s experience.

@Happy2Help I reported it on the site as well as through an email. They have taken my “congratulations” banner and replaced it with a letter saying that theyre reviewing my application. But i will have my 90 units by the end of spring, and I haven’t officially enrolled in summer chem course because its not available yet. Was your friend recently in the same situation?

Yes 2 years ago.

What else does your new admission contract say? Are there any conditions or just that they’re reviewing your application?

@Happy2Help they just say that theyre reviewing it but it was just the basic contract that everyone gets. I think it could be considered lying since I said i was going to take the class in the spring but didnt though.

I have exactly same situation this year! What’s the result you get! I am still being hold!

If you have registered and paid for the summer class, I’d send a screen shot of your payment statement to prove you’ve committed to the class.
