The Official 2010 UC to UC Transfer Thread

I got into ucsb!!!

@Arcade Grats!!!

@Midnight Yea I know what you mean. I planned my classes with the assumption that I was transferring to Davis. I think at this point, UCSD > UCI for me. I’d be very happy to get into UCD. I am crossing my fingers.

This thread is dead lol. I am planning on transferring fall of 2011 and wanted to know how you guys did on UCSD and UCI. Preferably an econ major

Well im transfering from UCR. I got into UCSD in the first batch. However, UCI is taking there sweet f***ing time for UC transfers lol. I still havent heard anything from them. But then again alot of CC transfers have also heard from all the other UC’s (besides UCLA and Cal) but not UCI. So has any other UC transfers got into UCI yet on this forum?

ps. my stats are a 3.86 and I applied as a math major.

@slee

I am an Econ major from Santa Cruz and I got into SD. Irvine is taking their sweet time. I don’t think any UC-UC transfers have heard yet. As long as you have a 3.5 or higher, I think you are pretty safe at all the mid tiers + UCSD.

I guess I would recommend four things.

 1. Keep your GPA up
 2. Finish your major pre-reqs before Spring (prior to transferring)
 3. Finish the transfer pre reqs (2 english classes, 1 math class, 4 classes from other areas).
 4. If possible, finish your UC reciprocity… although not required, it’ll make things easier.

At least for UCB, I know it is REQUIRED to finish UC Reciprocity before spring quarter (prior to transferring). In addition, the application says that you “may” use the summer to finish any pre-reqs for the major. Correct me if I’m wrong.

@hoping4luck

True about UC reciprocity. Slee was asking about UCSD and UCI, thus I was commenting only on the policies for those schools

Regarding pre-reqs, it is almost a requirement to complete them, especially coming from another UC. Econ majors only have 4-5 pre requisites, depending on the school, so no one should have a problem completing them in two years. You are right however, some UCs do let you take a prerequisite during the summer before transferring.

@Cali trumpet

Yeah I just wanted to clarify because I’m waiting to hear back from UCB as an intercampus transfer. I kinda decided last minute to apply and when I saw that it was required to finish UC reciprocity, I’ve been taking 18 units a quarter to finish all of the GE’s.

The only problem with my application is that I’m missing two pre-reqs for the media studies major (two of which aren’t required at my UC for comm major). I was relieved, though, when the berk application said “you may finish the pre-reqs in the summer 2010”. Do you think I will penalized harshly for not completing them? I’m very worried about this, but there was really no way for me to take them until the summer.

@hoping

I doubt your decision will come down to a class or two. You either have what it takes to get in, or you don’t.

Just sit and wait. I am waiting patiently (ha!) for UCLA and UCB so I can weigh my options and finally decide on which school I will attend next year.

in at ucsb and ucsd with a modest 3.46.
still awaiting irvine.

@ lakerfan

Congrats!

@lakerfan
What were your other stats? like school, ecs, and major

@slee0103
nothing too spectacular. transferring from ucr, majoring english.
2 major-related jobs and what i thought was a fairly decent essay. alot easier than i thought it would be.

wow nice… I am trying to transfer from UCR too haha. My major is econ so it’s going to be little harder

So I spent my senior year of high school as a full time student at a CC (56 units). Then I got into UCSB as a freshman (though I was technically already a sophomore) and am currently attending it. So basically, half of my units come from a CC and half from a UC. My De Anza Community College GPA was a 3.85 and my UCSB GPA for the Fall was a 3.69 (it is now a 3. 75).

What are my chances? I’m applying as a Political science major to Cal. Be brutally honest please.

Did you do the college advantage program in HS? If so, what hs did you go to?

Hey any of you guys transferring from UCR to other UCs as a econ major?
do you guys know if I have to take 9A,B,C or 9A,B, and 10A???

Yeah, I did. I went to Cupertino High School in Cupertino, CA.

Hey, so, I’m trying to transfer from SB to SD/Davis/LA/Berkeley, but I had a question about the pre-reqs for Chemical Engineering.

So, I should be completely done with all my pre-reqs for these schools next year, except for the fact that the computer programming language I have to take at SB is MatLab. This is okay for Berkeley, but not for LA, and I’m pretty sure not for the other two. Does that mean I have to take another class in like, C++? Would it be cool if I did that over the summer at my community college near my house if I have to?

Transfer to UCLA from UCSD?
Last year the average GPA of a political science major to UCLA was a 3.65. I have a 3.66, but there are also 2,000 more students applying this year than last year to the university. My question, simply put, is “should I be optimistic about my chances?”

From what I hear, UCLA gives the same consideration to other UC students as it does to community college students.

Pros:
Studied abroad in Germany fall quarter of sophomore year
Member of Student Council Freshman year
Finished all lower-division requirements for political science
Finished all GE requirements for Thurgood Marshall College
Joined a Fraternity

Cons:
No extensive leadership in college
GPA??? (Good enough?)

Thank you very much for your help. Any response would be greatly appreciated, but if you have any information other than what I have posted, meaning you know something that I don’t already know, that would be best.
