So USCB starts releasing decisions this Monday! Granted, we probably won’t get them until later since we are untraditional transfers. But still, there’s hope for Monday.

Was anyone accepted into UCSB today? My decision is still pending…

Well I was under the impression that UC-UC transfers hear last, after all the CCC transfers. Since I got into SD in the first wave, I am not so sure anymore. Here’s to hoping that Davis admits me in the first wave, as SB did not.

Hi, does anyone know the deal with the UC reciprocity agreement as far as major prep. is concerned? If I finish my lower-division requirements at my current UC, will I be exempt from the requirements for the new UC if they accept me?

Got into SB today… only a matter of time until you are accepted, arcade.

@shaq

Finish your General Education requirements at your current UC and you won’t need to complete them at the UC you transfer to. You should also complete your major pre reqs as well, if possible, unless your major has too many lower divisions (some engineering majors for example).

Cali Trumpet: well, I’m an engineering type major too so I probably won’t hear until damn near May 1st anyways.

So, I have a question. When I’m applying for a UC-UC transfer, I was wondering if the UC you attend is taken into consideration. Next year, I’m hoping to transfer to UCB, UCLA, UCSD or UCD for Bioengineering, and I currently attend UCSB (I wanna switch because UCSB doesn’t offer the major). If I keep up the same grades, I should be looking at about a 3.75 GPA in Chemical Engineering. But I was wondering if my 3.75 is regarded as the same as say, UC Merced, or something like that.

I reckon it would be viewed very similarly. From my experience and understanding, course rigor between the UC’s is very similar (disregarding UCLA and Berkeley). However, I’m sure they realize that a good GPA in a tough major at a UC is harder to achieve than at a community college.

Hmm… yeah, that seems to make sense. Another thing I wanted to ask is how important it is that I have over a 3.8 GPA. I read somewhere on here that a 3.8+ is pretty important if I wanna do a UC-UC transfer for engineering to Berk/LA/SD. Like I said, I have a 3.75 as a freshmen. I was at quite a disadvantage considering I never took Physics or Chem in high school, and I only took 1 semester of Calc at a CC. So I figure my grades should only get better, but if they stay relatively the same should it matter much?

I want to show UCLA the grades I got this quarter since every class I took was a prerequisite of theirs. Should I wait to see if they ask, or should I just send them an E-mail?

Haha, I would send them an email asking them if you should send them your grades. Normally they’ll ask, but if you’re worried about it, asking them never hurts.

I would like UCLA to see my grades for Winter Quarter as well. I updated my grades on the UC update page. I am going to call them tomorrow and ask if they would be interested and I’ll post back here when I get a response. Let us know what you hear, Arcade.

I agree with Arcade that the rigor is about the same at all the UCs, with the exception of Cal/La. I think it actually helps somewhat for you to come from one of the lower UCs, but as long as you have a 3.5+ or so, I think most of the UCs are pretty easy to transfer into. It is still pretty hit or miss to get into Cal/LA, but we’ll see what happens in 4-5 weeks for us UC-UC transfers.

Wellll I wouldn’t go so far as to say it helps to come from a lower UC. I mean, if you look at the transfer admission rates from each campus to UCLA, the highest ones are from SB, SD, and Berkeley.

Alright Cali, cool, let us know what they say. I also just updated the grades on the application update, though I doubt they’re going to check that this late unless we let them know. Maybe sending UCLA an E-mail would be the way to go?

Probably to the “ugadm@saonet.ucla.edu” E-mail address I’d guess.

Cali: Any response yet from UCLA on how to update them?

The lady that I talked to told me to update my grades on the website. However, the admission committee would probably not see the most recent update. She stated that an email about Winter grades would not be considered in the application.

@ Cali

Hmm…I called today as well…the lady I talked to said that they would see the update on the app, but won’t consider a “new” GPA with the winter '10 grades tacked on. It really didn’t make much sense, but she did say they would see the update like three times, so I think it is worthwhile filling out the update at the least.
