The OFFICIAL Brown RD Decisions "Discussion" Thread - Class of 2013

And URM is under-represented minority lol

@100Canadian

Trinity U in Dublin? That'd be an awesome experience, albeit expensive.

I also applied to JHU and Brown! Good luck to the both of us. :)

100 Canadian, if you don't get into JHU or Brown, why not Miami? My brother's been there for four years and loves it. I also got in with a nice scholarship, though I can't see myself going there (dad still made me interview for the full scholarship I've been nominated for, though, because the economy sucks so much and we likely won't get any finaid).

But basically, yeah, I'm expecting rejections. It all started out so well (Denver and Miami and WUSTL) and then two waitlists right in a row (GWU and UChicago). So now I don't even want to check anymore decisions. I'm so scared they'll all be rejections or waitlists!

So, here's my college admissions journey so far:
1. Accepted to UW Honors.
2. Waitlisted at WUSTL.
3. Early write from Wes.
4. Early write from Grinnell, plus scholarship although the grant is pitiful.
5. Waitlist at UChicago.

I am mentally beating myself up over the fact that I did not apply to Amherst/Williams. It seems as though I fit the liberal arts profile much better. Plus Amherst's apps dropped 20%, Williams 1% (and I had a great conversation with the admissions rep).

Point for future applicants is this: Do not use "logic" or "reason" and get all wrapped up in "I can't apply there (#1 LAC) because it's the (#1 LAC)." You will have sooo many regrets. Apply to where you actually want to go.

I did want to get into UChicago, though.

^Wanted to apply to Amherst too. Darn it!

Continuing from my above post, even if you don't get into that #1 LAC, at least you applied and tried and know that nothing else could have been done about it. If you don't even apply, you'll never know if you could have made it.

I'm so thankful I even applied to Brown, because I <3 the school so much.

Ugh. deferred ED = i pretty much lost hope in december, but i'm still awaiting confirmation on that.

Oh well, i got into my number 2's (tie b/t macalester and wesleyan), so at least i know i'll end up somewhere!

*****fingers crossed*******

:S

Hey guys, I am so nervous right now!! I know that everyone posting on this thread can relate...

I applied early and got deferred, and I would really love to go to Brown. Do you think it helps that my brother goes there?

God I'm so nervous. I got into William and Mary this past weekend so that has helped to ease my nerves lol.

There's not much you can do now, can you?

(Unless we fly to Providence and TP the Brown admission office ... to be honest, we wouldn't need a lot of toilet paper)

god did a lot of us get deferred or what? being deferred gives me like zero hope for RD

I think they take the same %age of the people who were deferred as they do for the reg. decision applicants (8 or 9 percent, apparently), so there's hope...i guess...

Either that or that we got shafted at other schools, hence the generally somber mood on these threads. Like me, rejected by MIT and waitlisted at Chicago.

Not that I'm expecting much ... just that small glimmer of hope

you call 8 or 9% hope?

initially i was just relieved i got deferred but looking on other threads its not looking too good for us deferrals....yeah i got waitlisted at haverford today but into cal & boston college so it evens out i guess. brown was originally my #1 but im prepping myself for rejection. life goes on :)

i applied ed and was deferred
accepted at like nyu, brandeis, ucla, umd, gw, usc, and au (basically all of my safeties+)
waitlisted at wustl and uva
and rejected at berkeley today

:( basically im saying goodbye to brown

Accepted by UChicago and WUSTL.
Rejected by UC Berkeley and Northwestern (applying for tons of aid).
Waitlisted by Duke.

The decisions are really random!

Brown can go either way for me. I'm an international not applying for aid for Brown.

FB lalaland you give me some hope
I have been rejected by Duke and Northwestern
Wait list Wash U
Yes, brown ranks lower than them (16) but I still believe i have a chance. My interview went so freaking well. I am preparing myself for the reality and I will either end up at my state school, U of I, or the Brandeis if I can convince my rents.

I feel like an epic failure so far though.

WL at Wash U
WL at Northwestern
accepted at BC
accepted at bucknell

any idea what will happen at brown?

Idea what will happen at Brown:

8-9% accepted.
