@ inert
O u applied early to my dream school.Hope u get in.I was to apply to Yale EA but my SATs were really late n I had a ‘not expected’ AS level result. So no EA for me.
I am applying to many schools but my top choices are Yale,Dartmouth,Trinity college.

You all seem smart enough to know everything already, but if there is any question you’d wanna ask, I could try and answer it for ya. I went through all this crap last year! haha :D

Last year thread had the GREAT LUMS DEBATE which really made it take off…I guess we will also need to start it…lolx

@ joiya
I was reading last year’s thread’s post by you about a certain guy who got into yale from ur school n who was rejected by MIT.Cn u plz post his stats, I mean SATs n stuff.I will be very gratefull to you.

@ Talha
How is ur BYU experience? n nobody is applying to BYU this year from our school so basically dnt expect any company n BTW I think u might not know me but I am from ur school:)

Still, silent readers remain silent.

raises hand lol

Finally.

@ilovebio025: An introduction would be good.

Well I know he had 8As in O level and 5 As in A1. His SAT I were around 2100-2200 (i think…i’ll confirm though)
and his extra curricular activities weren’t that great. I think what made him different from some of the applicants was because he had a webpage or something about global warming etc. His essays must have been good too of course and his SAT II were around 2380 if I remember correctly.

Haha, I am a Pakistani student in America. My prospective colleges: MIT, some Ivies, Hopkins, and some state safeties. I want to major in Biomedical Engineering and then off to Medical School!!! I know I don’t have a great chance of getting into the aforementioned elite colleges but, hey, Allah ki marzi ho gi to Inshallah ho jaye ga. How about you guys? I am glad to find fellow Pakistanis under the umbrella of this thread!!!

^ So you plan to work your ass off basically If you want to do pre-med why not go for a straight bio major. You’ll need a good GPA to get into a decent med school. And since you’re a pre-med try to go for a private college which inflates student GPAs like Stanford.

@ilovebio025: if you’re in america, then i’m assuming you have US citizenship, or a green card or whatever it’s called? I’m asking because that really helps if you plan to get into med school.

does anyone know the stats of other pakistanis that have gotten into yale?

@ joiyya
Thanks. It is nice to see seniors that are so helpful.n hope u r enjoying ur UC Berkeley!
@ restofeveryone
Can you guys gimme sum advice.I sat in oct for the SAT n sent my scores to colleges. But now I am really tense coz I messed up my name.I didnt put my middle Initials i-e if my name is Harry James Potter, I put in Harry Potter only. n to put it into perspective, all my docs got my full name.So basically what shld I do? ,inform collegeboard?n what about the sent scores,Will the adcoms get mad at me wen they see slightly different names n put my app in the dustbin shrieks n say noo!!!

@waji: If you’re ABSOLUTELY sure that your passport/other docs have your full name on them, then I would suggest that you call collegeboard and ask them what to do, or call the admissions office or wherever you are applying and let them know what your problem is. They might be able to tell you what to do…

I doubt that they’ll get mad at you… It would be really silly if they reject you based on that.

@waji: As Inert101 said, contact Collegeboard explain your situation to them and ask them what you should do.

In truth, I don’t think it’ll make much of a difference anyway, but just to be safe you should try and correct the problem.

I’m in UCLA not Berkeley :)

@joiya550 Yep, I am planning to work very hard. I do not hold a lot of interest for ‘easier’ majors and do not want to bump up my GPA by doing something I don’t like.
@Inert101 I have a green card. It will definitely help but not guarantee my admission.
@waji Don’t worry. Your colleges will match your name on the test score report along with date of birth to find your file. Most of the times they are successful. You most certainly won’t have your app in the dustbin Just check with them if they have found it or not (calling is better than emailing)

@ Waji.
Nice to see another rootsian. I really like it here. Thanksgiving break just started, and the biggest rivalry football game is this Saturday! Its gonna be dope. haha
So, where is everyone from Roots applying to?

joiya550, what are you majoring in at UCLA?
