So basically, I thought it would be fun if, instead of "West Coast Ivy League," prestigious West Coast schools got a completely new and original group name of their own.

THE PALM LEAGUE:
Stanford University
Berkeley
UCLA
CalTech
Pomona College
Claremont McKenna
Harvey Mudd College
Pitzer College
U$C

What do you all think? Feel free to add more colleges to the list if I'm missing any, and/or contribute another original name (i.e. The Sunny League)

Umm Pitzer? They’re good, but more like UCSD, UCI, UCSB, UCD, Pepperdine, Occidental, LMU, Cal Poly SLO.

hahahahahha this is hilar. but yeah you should replace pitzer with UCSD. and i like the palm league!

THE PALM LEAGUE:
Stanford University
UCLA
Berkeley
CalTech
Pomona College
Claremont McKenna
Harvey Mudd College
UCSD
U$C- had a dollar sign instead of the S for a reason :)

UC Davis and UCSB is not in the palm league yet, they are climbing up the rankings but not there yet, eventually.

^ UCLA before Cal?

Love it. Are there any prestigious West Coast schools outside of California?

UCSF should be on there too.

Love it! Maybe the lost could be smaller so the schools on it can be considered more special. Let’s keep this thread going and make “the palm league” a well known thing

ummmm… should I replace UCSD with UCSF in the list of palm league schools?

@Pinoiako: Have you decided where you’re going to go yet?

For the sake of parallelism, keep it to eight schools like the number of Ivy’s and UCSF should certainly be on there.

If it were me, while I loved my tour of Claremont McKenna, it isn’t better than Mudd or Pomona, so that gets removed.

Instead of the Palm league, it should be the Palm Basque

It should be called the Redwood leauge.

not yet. 10 character

I like Pinoi’s idea of using Palm much better than Redwood. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Redwoods in LA. ;-)

^ how could you miss them? They’re all along the 101

FINAL REVISED PALM LEAGUE SCHOOLS:

THE PALM LEAGUE:
Stanford University
Berkeley
UCLA
CalTech
Pomona College
Claremont McKenna
Harvey Mudd College
U$C- had a dollar sign instead of the S for a reason :)

To qualify to be a palm league member, that school can not have a TAG agreement with any community college in California or any other college in the United States. That disqualifies UCSD from being a palm league member as they still have TAG agreements.

That school should have an acceptance rate of 25 percent or lower for freshman applicants.

^Like I said, there should be eight schools akin to the eight Ivy’s.
