@titlemom I sent you a PM.
Hi - longtime lurker here, first time commenter.
My daughter (current freshman in HS) has also been accepted to TPAP and Artsbridge, and as of today, CCM’s summer program. Due to finances and time, we can only do one. Does anyone have any advice as to which program would be the most worthwhile - especially considering her age?
Thanks to you all.
TPAP!!! My son was a member of Company 3 & was also accepted for Company 6… he calls it ‘life changing’. Look at the content & format of each and see what suits her. TPAP focuses a lot on developing the artist… lots of outside-the-box approaches… etc.
All the raves we hear about TPAP seem to be referring to Panorama (which is the 3 week program that will have Company 6). Can anyone provide anymore information on TPAP Blueprint? I’ve heard general good things but not specifics about the program. D’s acceptance letter says it has a different focus than Panorama, and that it will be to prepare kids for college auditions and expose them to the faculty of many different colleges. But we don’t know much more than that.
Hi, titlemom. I did both Panorama and Blueprint this past summer and both are amazing but different opportunities!! I would say Blueprint is more focused on training, all the classes you take are very technique based, aka lots of ballet, monologue interpretation, and classes on how to audition. As part of Blueprint we even did a mock summer stock audition which was extremely valuable! Blueprint really does help you prepare for college auditions and many college reps come either to campus or via Skype from all different types and “levels” of programs. Panorama is much more focused on what you can create as an artist, they assume that you already have a lot of training and help you figure out what is unique about yourself as a performer and help you collaborate. I am glad I did both Blueprint and Panorama because Blueprint really helped me learn how to audition and gave me more technique, which I very much needed. Both programs have incredible faculty and will teach you a ton! I equally enjoyed my time at both Blueprint and Panorama and say that completely whole heartedly!
Thank you so much @mtboy99! That is really helpful. I wish she had the option to do both (she was waitlisted for Panorama). It sounds like an amazing experience. From your description it seems like Blueprint might be similar to Artsbridge, which brings us back to our original dilemma.
Can I ask if classes are the same daily, or does the schedule/faculty change frequently? She’s expecting (and wants!) long days with little downtime so it’s not the hours I’m wondering about, or the quality of the faculty (I expect anyone they bring in is wonderful). But I wondered if the faculty/schedule remains consistent most days, with other faculty just brought in for masterclasses, or are you working with different faculty, and/or different schedules every day?
My D told me her days at TPAP started at 9 and ended everyday around 11 – unlike other summer programs where the kids have downtime/freetime, this is a total immersion program – there is no downtime and the kids eat it up!!
Hi again titlemom. I would say about half the faculty stays for the full two weeks and about half the faculty comes and goes. The schedule is slightly different each day. We would have two hour blocks of acting and singing studio, and we rotated between the same two teachers for the full two weeks. In addition to that we would have two additional classes each day, at least one of which was always a dance class . We were placed in one group for our acting and singing studio and another group for the additional classes, which was based on our dance level. In addition to the four classes each day we would have a full company warm up each morning and an assembly in the evening.
So the structure was the same each day but the two classes that weren’t acting and singing studio varied in material and faculty if that makes sense. Also since Blueprint is fairly new the schedule could be different but I would assume it would be around the same set-up. Please let me know if you have any other questions!
Thank you so much @mtboy99! That’s really helpful info.
This link is so helpful and exactly what we have been looking for! My student is also admitted to CCM MT Summer Program, TPAP Blueprint, and Penn State MT Summer Programs. My student is also waiting to hear from SSTI on March 12. We are having a terrible time trying to decide among the three, and potentially 4, programs. They all seem wonderful in their own way, but overlap on dates so we can only select one. Also, everything we have been able to find about TPAP is about Panorama, not Blueprint, so this Blueprint info is very helpful. At this point probably TPAP Blueprint and Penn State are our strongest contenders. We would appreciate any one who can give information on their experience with these 4 programs. Specifically we would love to know how intensive and beneficial the training was, how individualized the attention was, and the talent level and seriousness of the students? TPAP Blueprint seems a little large so perhaps less selective and less personal, but maybe that is a misperception as we’ve heard great things about TPAP always, so we would love to know thoughts on that too. Thank you so much!
Off topic, but can anyone tell me if CCM Summer Immersion was rolling admissions or one notification date? I saw @mtmomof3 mentioned it.
Hi @IfYouOnlyKnew - we received acceptance to CCM Summer Immersion on March 7. I don’t know if others heard before or after, though.
@kcmcgmom thank you! I have a friend who hasn’t heard yes or no yet.
My D was Company 3, and had already been through the college audition process (went the summer between HS and College). So, while I don’t have a lot of insight on Blueprint, I can say that an advantage is how many different college faculty come in to talk to the HS students is a benefit over a program tied to just one school. Good luck with decisions… for what it’s worth, my D called TPAP “life changing” and recommends it to anyone who asks about it.
