So long story short, I'm from India, and I moved into an international school in Singapore in my Junior Year. I didn't make a lot of friends because I was shallow enough to judge people on how they drink, smoke, and party. Now I have realized my mistake and want to make friends. But I had an awkward junior year and I am perceived as a nerd. How would I make new friends now? Please be more specific and avoid answers like "Just talk". I'm shy because I don't have that knack of continuing conversations. Could you guys also mention some topics you often talk about with friends?

For me, shyness can only be overcome by making myself uncomfortable.

Talk about what links you: a class, club, music, whatever.

For me, if someone starts talking about something I know about/can talk about, then I instinctively butt into their conversation.

So you want to join the Singaporean youth drinking, smoking, and partying in a culture where you can’t even hock a loogie without looking over your shoulder?

Bounty123, you’re not shy. You’re crazy!

Nerd power. Stay the course.
