Would love to hear the pros/cons of either.
I lived in UV over the summer. Cons are that the rooms are really small and cramped. I couldn’t sit at my desk because I chose to get a full size bed and the chair couldnt be moved. The kitchens are pretty crappy. If you opt for an apartment without a living or dining room in order to save money, there is barely any room in the common area for your roommate and yourself to function, let alone entertaining guests. UV is also right beside the regional rail train tracks so if you’re “lucky” enough to get a room in the back building, it takes a long time to adjust to the trains going by every 20 minutes. If you go here, do not forget to bring your own wireless router; I learned this the hard way. Opposed to getting a normal apartment on the other side of broad, UV has you check in all your guests which gets annoying really quickly and I never had to pay for laundry before at my previous college so that was new to me and definitely a con.
Pros to UV is that the private gym is really nice, and they have a great study room that has like 10 giant iMacs in it. The media room is also pretty nice, but the arcade games are over priced and if I remember correctly, you don’t have access to the remote to change the tv channel. The people that work in the leasing office are absolutely amazing. I looked forward to paying my rent every month just so I could talk to the one manager. The staff at the front desk are extremely nice. One time it was pouring down raining and I was carrying a ton of groceries back all the way from Frogo, and despite being slightly baked he rushed over to get the door for me, grabbed some bags to help me readjust, and opened the door to the courtyard for me. The courtyard is also great because you can leave your bikes in there so they don’t get stripped down and stolen from using the bike rack out front. UV is also right next to the regional rail station.
I didn’t live at the View, but my boyfriend spent a lot of time there with a friend, and I spent a lot of time in their study area because unlike UV, you don’t have to bring your own paper to print, and the friend had me as his guest so I could prepare resumes. I haven’t been inside View rooms, but it definitely looks cooler from the outside and there are a ton of restaurants on the ground level like Chipotle, Pot Belly, some salad place, and Blaze Pizza which is to die for. The View is also right next to the student center and slightly closer to campus and the food trucks than UV.
Assuming from the other post of yours I commented on, you’re looking for place that does roommate matching because your daughter is a transfer. In a similar price range check out, Oxford Village and Kardon Atlantic. But again, anything on the other side of broad that is closer to a normal apartment opposed to something mimicking a dorm environment, will most likely have nicer kitchen and bathroom and in-unit laundry, and cheaper rent because at the big apartment buildings you’re paying $200-300 extra just for unnecessary security and to feel like youre living in a dorm.
