The Waiting Game

Hey CC community, I would like to see if past applicants, even parents for that matter, could offer some tips or advice on how to play the waiting game while waiting for acceptances. I constantly get excited thinking I have a chance, but then it turns around and it’s kind of scary to be honest. I don’t want to be excited for something and have it not happen and vice versa, I don’t want to be afraid for 2 months and have it happen (although I would much rather choose this option, wouldn’t we all?). I know I’ve done my absolute best these past four years. It’s just difficult being patient for something you want to find out so badly. I know that patience is a virtue and I should take senior year slowly, but do you all have any advice? Thanks!

An Impatient Senior

Breathe deeply. Lots of other people (seniors and their parents) are going through the same process.

I suggest you distract yourself. Volunteer. Join clubs. Take up a sport for fun. Go to a seminar or workshop on a topic that interests you, not something to look good on your college app. The wait will be over soon!

Don’t read chance me threads ever. Have a blast-this is your senior year, the last time you’ll be with this group of friends and teachers. Do things with your family. Make sure if you have younger siblings you make them feel special…it will hurt when you are gone. Have an adventure. Read good books, write about the journey in a journal. It seems like its a long time but when you look back it will be fleeting. Relax!
