Got in today, 3.25, 2080.

Our son's majors on the status screen are grayed out and he can change the other profile information. He had a deferred admittance from last year, so the old account was inactivated. Yesterday he could not create an account, but today he created an account and can log into myneu.neu.edu, but there is no congratulations admissions letter, just all the links to tuition & housing deposits, announcements link, alerts link, and other NEU student services. His major is the Bouve/PharmD program and NEU is his #1 choice and he plans to go there if he can get the merit based financial aid package he was offered last year (financial aid is not deferred.)

BTW - we live in California and have not received the official letter or packet in the mail yet.

creasemonkey: Everything looks good for your son so far... Since he was just able to log in to myNEU today, it might take a day or two for the Congratulations Letter to come up. But, keep trying...

I also live in California. My list of materials disappeared at about 3:00 yesterday, but I can't log in to myNEU yet.

I got in. I am International and this is my first acceptance so far. I deserve to relax tonight. I got the e-mail and I can login maybe.

churalska: Congratulations!!! You will always remember your first acceptance. Where else did you apply?

Our son had to create a new user id because last year it was lastnamedotfirstname and this year it is lastnamedotfirstinitial instead. Is NEU your first choice? What other schools did you apply to? Our son's are probably #1 NEU, #2 UCD, #3 Cal Poly. If he can get the merit-based financial aid, the cost of NEU could be about 6-8K more than an in-state UC education which he should be able to make up in co-op work. He visited the campus and did the tours (general & health science) last August and loved the school.

churalska: congrats! it's cool that you're from bulgaria.

My list cleared yesterday as well around the afternoon. Hopefully they'll let me know if i'm in or not.

If I do get accepted, I'm definately going because this was my top choice.

I applied to 24 universities in the U.S. - Brandeis, Colgate,Cornell, Colby, Carleton, U of Chicago, Clark University, Columbia Uni, Hampshire, Bates, U of Rich,U of Roch and many others

Wow 24?! My friend applied to 14... and I thought that was a lot haha.

creasemonkey: For me, Fordham University (Lincoln Center campus) is #1, BU is #2, and Northeastern is #3. As you can tell, I really want to be in either NYC or Boston. I did apply to UC Berkeley and USC, but those are both reaches for me, so I'm not hopeful. So far, I've been accepted to the University of San Francisco and American University.

Your son could definitely make up some of the added cost by doing co-op work. From what I've heard, NEU's co-op program is supposed to be great. Good luck to your son!!

churalska: Yeah, that must have cost you a pretty penny! I hope you get into the college of your dreams. Good luck, especially with Cornell (that's tough)!!

shiba411: USC shouldn't be a reach school for you - just expensive! BTW UC Berkeley is my alma mater and it was fabulous. 22 kids from our son's HS entered as freshmen at UCB last fall and from what I hear they love it there. However, our son really wants NEU and the pharmacy program, so hopefully that's where he'll end up. Originally it was BU until he visited both campuses and NEU won him over so that is the only east coast school he applied to.

creasemonkey: The only reason USC may be considered a reach for me is because I applied to the Marshall School of Business. I visited UC Berkeley last year, and really liked it, although I have to wait until the 30th to see if I got in. Too bad they're the last UC school to post decisions online :)! Wow! I can't believe 22 kids got into Cal just from your son's high school. At mine, there were about 10 who went to UCLA, but only a few ended up at UC Berkeley. I don't really understand why they liked UCLA better than Berkeley, since some of them got into both, but I guess it's closer to home (since I live in Orange County), and that's a draw for some... I made an attempt to visit every school before I applied, and the ones in California were easy enough...but, since I mostly applied to schools out east, it was very difficult (and too expensive) to visit all of them. Thus, I only visited BU, Tufts, and Harvard (just for fun :)). Once the letters come, I'm going to visit all the schools I get into during spring break to make my final decision!

Although this time of year can be very stressful, it's also incredibly EXCITING!

Well, I am not sure where I want to go but I really want New York or Boston. I want them. I live in a very small town in Bulgaria but I have always wanted to go to the biggest city New York or the University City Boston. No matter what scholarship they will give I will go and maybe I will transfer the second year for a bigger scholarship. Really hope to do that.

That's exactly what I want, churalska! It's time for me to escape from suburbia... Every school I applied to is located in an urban area.

my mom is from boston. i grew up a die hard red sox/celtics/pats fan in west los angeles. it's time for me to return to my roots.

fresco: LOL... Can you log in to myNEU yet?
