and a darn tootin good one, tho i do say so myself

haha that's cute

Hey mind if I join in on that plan? I also applied EA to Yale and I'm worried about going bald from pulling my hair out. But if I get a big, fat, juicy envelope then all my hair would grow back.

Oh Yale (sigh).

Let's make cake! yum

Zephyrfist ouchhhh that's not a pretty picture

Chidimma cake yum!
IF you want to discuss desserts in more detail, I highly suggest you come to the official chidimma and newt and bebere and iplayoboe and freakish and everyone else thread

so is it official that it's a thick envelope? (sorry to end your pointless ramble and go back on topic!)

that's what we think

Yes, an acceptance definitely arrives in a thick envelope; deferrals or rejections come in regular letter-sized envelopes. But the thing is, the results are available online the day the envelope (thick or thin) is mailed, so most people know the answer before the envelope arrives in their mailbox. Last year the EA results were posted online at the end of the day (I can't remember the exact time--I believe between 5 and 6 pm EST) on December 15.

Posted online? How so? Surely they wouldn't post the names of all those accepted on one page - that would be cruel cruel cruel! Cruella de Ville, Cruella de Ville, Cruella, Cruella... Oh right, I think I read somewhere that we'll get an application index number or something with our acknowledgement letter (which I haven't got yet - I've only got the e-mail acknowledgement, which doesn't come with any index number), is this used for checking if we got in, online?

how long after your application was mailed did you get a confirm email?

Almost 2 weeks after. By the way, I was wrong, there was a number - my subject reads "Acknapp1024_1030". I wonder if that means 1024 out of 1030 applications that they have already received? (I think someone asked that question before.) Have you not received your e-mail confirmation, iplayoboe?

The text of the e-mail is as follows:

<begin quote="">
This message is to let you know that your application to Yale has been
received and entered into our database.
You will be receiving an acknowledgement by mail as well that has
additional information.
You will receive another notification (via postcard) when your application
is complete. Thank you for your interest in Yale!
<end quote=""></end></begin>

Anyone who's already received the letter of acknowledgement by snail-mail, care to share what this "additional information" is? =)

well my app was only mailed last friday, so its not even been a week, but i was just wondering, because i would hate to have something happen and be unaware that something was wrong until too late... ya kno? I figure theyll be moving as fast as possible to process all the apps they get, seeing as how they only have a month and a bit to get decisions mailed!

Ya I know, I was also very concerned when I didn't get the acknowledgement after 1 week, I actually e-mailed the admissions officer in charge of my region (Asia) and didn't get a reply.

i'm starting to panic slightly over this whole thing...i reallyreallyreally want to get in. december 15...just in time for the holidays! how considerate lol i'll have to find out via email if they mail december 15, i live overseas and won't want to wait. are they really still on the whole thick envelope vs thin envelope thing? my friend got accepted to her first choice school, but almost had a heart attack when she saw a thin envelope. mine also said acknapp1024_1030. wonder what it means...

considering they both said the same thing- probably nothing

Not a Yale letter, but I just got my acceptance from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign :). First letter I've got. It is not as thick as I thought it would be: it's paper sized and less than a centimeter thick.

1024_1030 kind of sounds like Oct 24-30 to me. But really, what do I know?

So to find out online do we just go to Yale's website?

Congrats Newt! (I think that's our first OFFICIAL acceptance on this board?)

Mazel tov :D

I'm not doing EA, so it'll be quite a long wait for me... but along with the huge & fat envelope, I definitely want a STREET PARADE announcing that I got into Yale. And, of course, in 40 different languages. I really really really want to go!

Congrats, Newt! :)
