You need to learn how to relax a little bit.

I dunno what you're talking about --- I relaxed just last year.

But my son only has a 2399.99 on the SAT!!!!!!!!!

OP, let me direct your attention here:

Mine has a 2410, but I still can't relax!! Relaxation is for losers! You can relax when you're dead!!

Not enough exclamation marks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My kid has a 5.79 GPA (unweighted) and a 2780 on the SATs. His uncle is the director of admissions at Harvard, his aunt at Yale, and his cousin at Brown.

But he only has two varsity sports, not three, and he's only been president of four school-sponsored clubs.

Whatever will we do???

I'll relax when i am not driving a new BMW off a cliff every year and wondering if it is worth it!!!!!!!! (3 kids--all private colleges. You do the math)

That's how my H thinks of it, too, morrismm. Tuition = the equivalent of a new car every year.

This is what's wrong with the economy! Instead of buying new cars, record number of people is virtually poor because they pay tuition $$$.

Your kids are losers. My kid runs a Fortune 500 company while getting a 5.0 taking 12 APs. She's a quadruple legacy at every ivy and an Olympic athlete. Do you think she'll make it into one?

If you're short on money, why in the world would you send even ONE kid to a private college ?

So yawn, are you a student or a parent??

You shouldn't feel compelled to post on this forum if you find it so depressing. Just a thought ... :)

Ummmmm -- I know that private school tuition is equivalent to a new BMW, but I generally buy Hondas. So I could buy two cars and drive them off a cliff every year!!

morrismm,
LOL-- I think about the car/college thing in reverse! We needed to get a new car quickly (due to DS's 10 yr car dying and my deciding to give him my then 7 yr old minivan) in 2005. It was right around my birthday and we decided to, for the first time, get a higher end car. I still refer to it as "a year's tuition under my a$$". My s drove the minivan, much to his embarassment, though his remaining years of college. He was known as "soccer mom".

Student. My parents wouldn't think of paying for me to attend a private college, and I'd certainly never ask for it...

Of course, you're free to do as you choose. I can't dictate how many BMW's you lay to waste.

Yawn--You are right. Everyone is free to do as they choose. I would never suggest what you or your parents should pay for college. My H and I , however, making a six figure income , wanted our kids to go their dream schools, given their talents. But even w/ this income, having 3 in school is a burden.

It is very expensive. Is it worth it? I hope so. I think my analogy made this point.

No, I do not drive a BMW.

I come to CC to remember my motto: Never Relax. If I let up for one tiny second the littleriverrunners may forget to do one of their ECs or slack on their science project. Basically, I come here for the free amphetimines.

Yawn- We send our kids to private colleges because they can't possibly get a decent education unless we do. Besides, we want to be able to brag to the neighbors and our co-workers. Also, our kids will earn a MUCH higher income when they graduate from these private colleges, as opposed to those lesser schools like Michigan and Texas. They will take care of us in our old age with that high income they will earn. Plus, we want them to be able to afford really nice cars just like we drive.
