this is so depressing.

Seph… There’s always going to be small minded people wherever you go. I don’t like to judge others… but it’s obvious this guy must have it rough at home. I am truly worried that he might be mentally unstable and might explode one day and cause harm to others.

I’d like to add I support my own family of 6, hahaha as well as paying my sisters tuition. LMAO

i know a lot of people, myself included, who just can’t find jobs at the moment which is no suprising considering the high unemployment rate atm

Davis let me retake the class during summer. YESSS!!!

^congrats!

SWEEEEEET baller. I’ll see you this fall at Davis!

wow man, I’m real glad for you. That was some tense situation, good luck with everything else at Davis.

thats great! no more stresss. good luck at Davis :)))

@Mar_mar: If nothing else, I aim to be entertaining.

@whoswithwhat: Yo, di.ck face, not everyone is privileged enough to be born into the “right” family. Sounds like you might have been, but what role did you have in that again? Oh that’s right, none at all. You’re also implying that because your family has the means, they owe it to you to provide for all your past and present needs? As if it were owed to you? Yeah, I fail to see how you’ve refuted my point…

@sephorazn: Nope, not a social outcast by a long shot. I have a close circle of friends whom i’ve known since grade school. Lots of acquaintances, but few truly close friends. Makes me appreciate it them all the more. If that makes me a social outcast, then the vast majority of UCSD student must be social pariahs.

Hello, I’m the real world. I don’t think we’ve met? When mommy and daddy are paying your way through life, you are a spoiled child my friend. Turning 18+ doesn’t make you into a grown man or woman, responsibility and being self reliant does.

@grind: I appreciate the feigned concern, but no need to worry, I’m enjoying life in my nice La Jolla apartment, within walking distance to UCSD, shopping, eateries, and the beach. Oh, yeah, I also enjoy driving along the coast in my Lexus blasting tunes and living life with very few concerns. I pay for all this on my own by the way. While everyone else crams 4 or 5 people in to a 2 bedroom apartment several miles from campus, I have this spacious place all to myself. I can walk butt ass naked from the shower and do my daily chores. How many of you can do that?

@Revel: Explain to me how getting into UCLA in one year even puts you remotely in my league? Till you’ve taken some truly difficult classes (most any upper division science coursework), then you can hope to compare. I’d be surprised if you even score class average in P-Chem or Mammalian Physiology. Both of which are regarded as two of the hardest classes at UCSD.

You know what makes me so impressive? Not necessarily my accomplishments, but the fact that I perform better than vast majority of you in any classes I take with you really makes me feel good. No, what makes me better than you, and a great deal of other people on here, is that everything I’ve accomplished I’ve done so on my own, and starting from extremely humble beginnings. I’ve lived in cars, garages, shi.t environments really. I never received any help with school work from my parents, hell, they could barely read, let alone read English. I’ve had the cards stacked against me since birth, yet here I am, doing better than you, and with all the **** I’ve previously mentioned.

That’s what makes me better than you. I came from nothing, and now I’m on my way to the top. How many of you can claim the same?

I can’t believe you compared a language class to science, what are u stupid? science is universal you dumb dumb. some ppl, i swear
Yeah, tell that to all the people who can’t understand metabolic biochemistry, physical chemistry, or quantum physics. I’m sure they’ll agree that science is universal… Last I heard, you can learn a language by being “immersed” into it. Try doing that in o-chem lab. I’ll make sure to have a fire extinguisher ready when you inevitably start a fire…

Thank you kind sir.

Anywho, good luck at Davis baller90210!

This thread is very amusing. Especially at 3 in the morning.

I know…it’s definitely helping me stay awake. haha

Who knew a pity party thread could bring so much enjoyment to others?

How do you pay for college UC_Transfer? You act like financial aid isn’t a handout as well… your tuition just comes from other students instead of your parents.

Lol Apparently a large part of people who live in Asia won’t ever become adults going by UC_transfers logic…You do realize that in Korea, Japan, and some parts of China parents do everything they can for their kids education right? I’m from Korea and the majority of men who get married still live in their parents house, and are supported by their father when they need money (ie. when they’re students and need tuition, food, etc.)
Thats why the majority of Asian parents here in the US spend long hours toiling away at jobs they hate to pay for their child’s education and other basic needs. Cultural differences + expectations. Why do you think Asians are saturating the UC system? They don’t have to work at 15 or 16 because their parents are paying for tutoring, food, clothes, etc. so they spend their time studying. It really isn’t a bad thing…

Don’t hate on others just because their parents decide to support them.

I’m also amused when people dismiss the 20K+ they get a year in aid and then make these claims like “I pay for everything myself!”.

It’s pretty hard to argue with UC_Transfer when he admits to being a sociopath. I’m not a religious guy, but I do have faith that ultimately the universe will play out as it should. I think the loneliness and frustration that bleed through in his posts are early evidence of this…

He also made the broad claim, “a lot of you were openly advocating lying on UC application.” I certainly never advocated that, neither did many of the people here. I got into all the top UCs without losing any personal integrity…from a purely practical perspective, lying would have been a counterproductive thing to do in my case because it would have put me at risk as well as added nothing in terms of getting accepted to colleges. I would argue that lying on the UC app is always a counterproductive thing to do in the sense that the risk of getting blacklisted from the UC system heavily outweighs the potential upside of getting accepted to a few more UCs, but I digress. The main reason not to lie on UC apps is because its dishonest and dishonesty (at least to most of us) is wrong.

Being willing to say “I am a prick” is disgusting. And your claim that all the rest of us are pricks is pretty misguided. There are many good people people in the world. I try to be one of them, although like anyone else I make my share of mistakes. I believe my philosophy towards being a good person is common and shared by 95% of the population. Your philosophy of “I am a prick” and intentional choice to do things that hurt others blows - its very consistant with the definition of sociopathy. I do credit you for sharing your philosophy with us however, and hope you share your philosophy with those in your real life as well. The people around you deserve to know who you truly are, so they can appropriately respond by ostracizing and avoiding you.

If I knew I was the type of guy who fed wrong answers to classmates trying to learn I don’t think I could sleep at night. I’d rather sacifice a point off my GPA in every class if I had to instead of being the type of guy who competes comparatively better by screwing up others. Thank god that isn’t really a choice anyone has to make and your perception that it is is all in your head. I’m just going to keep working my ass off academically and try for the best grades I can- call me naive all you want.

Financial Aid and a few loans (roughly 2k). Wanna know how I got them (the aid, not the loans)? Because I’m ****ing superstar, that’s how. SMART grants, UCSD grants, stipends, and all the other shi.t that comes with it.

If anyone’s to blame for all the aid, blame your parents. They were the one’s who decided to change financial aid awards from a purely financial matter. E.g. financial aid was disbursed to students entirely based on need and not merit. To awarding it out due to academic merit.

Make sure you thank them for me next time you see them. They’ve made all this possible for me. :D

yeah, these people are not men. They’re still children, despite their elevated age. How can a male even consider himself a man when his daddy is still paying his way through life?
Why do you think Asians are saturating the UC system?
Socioeconomic advantage. So many of the Asian immigrants that come to this country and attend UC were already from rich or educated families in their home country. There’s nothing really impressive about it. If they came here with next to nothing like immigrants from other countries, I sincerely doubt you’d see as many of them @ UC.

Yes it is, you just don’t see it that way because you’ve apparently come to expect this behavior as the norm.

@College:
I think someone needs to look up the definition of a sociopath…
As far as the universe paying out the retribution you think I’m owed, it’s sure done a hell of a job so far. Was waking up at noon to the sounds of the ocean, while the cool breeze makes its way through my apartment part of some divine plan to “get” me? Haha.

No it’s not, it’s truthful. I know my limits and I know what kind of man I am. I’m comfortable with myself as I am, and wouldn’t change a thing about myself. Can you say the same thing?

A lot of them already know what I’m like. Yeah, it hasn’t done much of anything. You know why? Because I’m reliable, and willing to go that extra mile for those I call friends. You ever bail a friend out of jail with a 25k bond? How about give someone a ride at 3 in the morning when you have a big exam at 8A.M later that same day? Yeah, I thought so.

How cute! Someone who thinks he knows the philosophy of others, despite the fact that he’s probably never really lived a day in the real world. I know what people are really like better than most of you. I’ve seen what it’s like at the bottom, I know what people are really like when you cut away all the bullshi.t.

I sleep just fine thank you. Yeah, if you think it’s all in my head, I invite you take to some upper division science coursework with a room full of “pre-meds”. Let’s see if you’re still singing the same tune afterward.

Also, yeah, you are naive. Give it a few years, you’ll see I was right all along.

Okay how bored are you to actually sit there and write all that crap to people ONLINE that you don’t even know? Get over it already LOL

I’m killing time till class starts at one. Besides, I find this fun.

You could say the same thing to them by the way.
