This might be a stupid question but

I was trying to find a list of General education requirements, those classes everyone has to take to graduate, but I can’t find any. All I can find are the required courses for each semester for my major. This leads me to wonder: ARE there any gen ed courses? Does it matter what college you’re in? If so, I’m in Sargent College and planning on minoring in music.

[Find a Program | College of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences: Sargent College](http://www.bu.edu/sargent/academics/programs/) has everything you need for different Sargent majors.

Woah so that’s it? I’d only have to take those courses here

[Curriculum | College of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences: Sargent College](http://www.bu.edu/sargent/academics/programs/health-sciences/bs-in-human-physiology/curriculum/)

? And then I’d just take the courses I need for my music minor, some of which should count as humanities electives anyway, right? And one more tiny question, when it says 8 General Electives in Spring of Senior year…umm what does that mean? lol

Yep, you take your minor as your ‘electives’ (those are CAS classes, I don’t know which would count as Humanities and which as Social Sciences for Sargent though).
I think ‘General electives’ can be from any BU school and not just CAS. The number 8 means 8 credits, which equals two general elective classes.

That’s awesome! Thank you for the info, that clears stuff up a lot.

Not as discouragement, but just know if you are minoring in music, you will have to take Ear Training I-IV (along with Music Theory I-IV) and the class is only offered at 8 am every semester. The attendance requirement is VERY strict. If you have AP credits you can knock out some of the theory requirements. This is basically why its very difficult to double major or minor if you are a student IN CFA and sometimes it’s difficult, depending on your school, to minor or double major as a non-CFA student.

There is a non-performance Music minor in CAS.

Don’t worry about it too much right away. You will have a course adviser to guide you through these things. In fact, you’ll probably meet them in the first week of school.

theSUBlime: I talked to someone who’s doing a non-performance music minor and they mentioned the Theory, Ear Training, and Sight Singing. Apparently the AP Theory test won’t get me credit cuz it doesn’t work for a minor/major, but she said due to the level of material on the AP test I should be able to pass out of some levels of those classes.
