This ticks me off...what should I do?

So, the French IV class at my school does this skit at this language fair every year. I am in the class that will have to put on the skit at the fair, which will take place THIS THURSDAY!! In mid-October, this girl volunteered to write the whole skit. Now, we're a few days away from the language fair, and she IMed me and istrying to get ME to write it. I personally feel that I shouldn't have to write it because I didn't volunteer to do it, and she has had several weeks to write it. If you were me, what would you do?

If I were you I absolutely would not write it. It's her fault that she didn't get it done when she was supposed to. Maybe if you feel really bad for her you could offer to help her out, but if she volunteered, then it's her responsibility to get it done.

Too bad, language fair = screwed. It's not your problem and it won't affect you in any way.

I would talk to the girl and ask why she hasn't written it yet. If she actually has a good excuse (ie - serious illness, death in the family, etc) that she couldnt've have forseen, I think I would talk with her to the teacher about it and maybe your class as a whole could do it.

If it's out of sheer laziness or something that she could've forseen (ie - one or two of her ECs is always really busy at this time of year), then I wouldn't do anything about it.

I'd write the skit because I'd want the skit to be a good one that reflected well on my grade, and clearly the girl is irresponsible. I'd write a good script and would also make sure that my teacher knew that I wrote it.

I also think that it would have been better if from the first, the skit had been a joint project because writing scrips is a lot of work. Seems like one person was going to have to do the lion's share of the work. It would have been better if a couple of people had worked on the script from the beginning. Maybe that's why she's trying to back out now: She realized she had an unfair share of the work even if that's what she initially agreed to do.

Most people also don't have the creativity and writing talent to write scripts even these kind of small projects for a class. Since I actually do have that kind of talent, I'd always rather do it than leave it to someone who'd mess it up in some way. When I took a college French class for fun a few years ago, we had the same assignment you did, and I ended up writing the script. Others had more acting talent, and the combination of their acting and my script carried the day.

"If it's out of sheer laziness or something that she could've forseen (ie - one or two of her ECs is always really busy at this time of year), then I wouldn't do anything about it."

That is exactly what it is, sheer laziness. Oh, and also, this isn't for a grade (thank god) :)

I'd still probably write it because I like writing scripts, and I'd want my group to do well. I'd also make sure my teacher knew that I wrote the script.

I think that leaving the script in the girl's hands would virtually guarantee an embarasing performance because clearly she's unreliable and doesn't give a darn about the script. I wouldn't want to be in a group that did an embarrasing performance.

they say the only way to get things done is to do it yourself.
if its a big portion of the grade, just suck it up. the exact same thing happened in my AP spanish class.
