Thread for BSMD Applicants 2019

congrats to all the HPME acceptances :slight_smile:

Congratulations to all on your HPME acceptances!

Congrats to all acceptances so far!

When do Sophie Davis decisions come out?

Are they coming out this Friday (March 29)?

Is any one going to SBU/GWU.

Congratulations to all the acceptances!

ok in the final stretch…help need deciding between UIC-GPPA, BU-SMED and UPitt.

UIC-GPPA - 7 yrs - home advantage, cheaper UIC Med School 50th rank in research.
BU-SMED - 7yrs, BU UG also highly ranked, BU SOM ranked 30th in research. Boston City has its own charm…
UPitt - 8yrs, UPitt SOM ranked 13th in research.

Around 60K difference between BU and UPitt ( 3 vs 4 yrs of UG)
Definitely UIC-GPPA will be way cheaper as UG almost free with scholarships.

I would recommend UPitt over BU

And BU over UIC GPPA
Cost is insignificant here

@NoviceDad , @rk2017 , @srk2017 , @GoldenRock, @PPofEngrDr … Thanks for your advice.

One more question to you guys, One of my Friends DS got in to Pennstate PMM and GWU 7 years BSMD,
For both schools he is OOS. So could you please advise which is best option.

Congratulations to to all the acceptances!!!

@cy2019bsmd, sorry I am not familiar with GWU to give advice.

@sajju786 - I don’t recall someone mentioning UPitt decisions are out. What’s the cost difference between all 3 schools? do you need to take any loans for medical school? Finally, what’s your son’s preference?

@sajju786 from day one keep saying nothing is going to beat GPPA, especially so many of those long years, home field advantage would go long way. And being a nonbinding medical, seat, if any changes in plan for medical field or other things, later you have an easy escape route. And if you are an ORM you know UIC nickname.

oh well this is 5000th post…

UPitt decisions will be out on April 15th, that’s what we were told on the interview day…

Baylor2 Baylor will be out on April 18th, that’s what we were told on the interview day…

@cy2019bsmd
Both are good schools.
GW medical school has lower primary care ratio than Jeff.

Philly vs DC
PennState vs GW undergrad- If she likes liberal arts undergrad, GW is a better bet; otherwise PennState.

We were in-state for PSU/Jeff and hence withdrew from GWU.

In the end what appeals to her may tilt the decision.

I would recommend GWU 7 year over Pennstate PMM

@sajju786 - Then too early to do the comparison LOL
