Time to party. Suggestions?

So. My first term as Class President. Hey to everyone who knew me btw. I quit CC for a while :). LOONG time no see.

So anyways. My first term as President. Few weeks into school year's beginning there needs to be a social event for a get together kind of thing. dance, etc... anything

Any ideas? appreciated :) :) :)

idk, CCers don't usually party all that much.

"idk, CCers don't usually party all that much."

AHaha :) True true.

I'm just looking for some kind of feedback for my school. Get the spirit back together again. (High schoolers btw. 9th-12th grade)
so not some kiddy thing haha.

How big is your school?

Fairly small student body. It's a higher-tier school. Expensive is the reason.

About.. 600 people all 9th-12th?

With a student body of that size, there's bound to be a number of musicians...so why not hold a little "battle of the bands?" You could do it like an outdoor festival on your football field: serve/sell food and drink, have some raffle prizes...random competitions in between acts, maybe a dunk tank...maybe borrow a few golf carts or something and make a course (heck you could do drag racing on your track if you have one). My school did that for pre-game/halftime during lacrosse season. It was fun. It's probably cheaper than hiring a DJ for a dance too.

use the school gym, get a loud band and lots and lots of junk food and coke. Ands that random competition ides isn't bad...try it!

battle of the bands

dinner-dance (this one isn't very original. just hold a dance and serve dinner before, something simple obviously)

both of the above ideas can be used to raise $ for a community service purpose

I really like the battle of the bands idea.

Another: mud wrestling. This actually happened at my school...and I live in the Bible Belt. -_-;

One time, at assembly, the student government rented an inflatable wrestling ring and fat suits and pit students against faculty. They had entrance music and everything--it was great.

And another time they had a huge dodgeball game between seniors and faculty in the gym--the faculty all bought matching shirts and were trash talking for the week before the assembly (but of course the seniors won).

There's always the freshmen dance contest--pick a random group of freshman (though it's better if you know them and know they will hate you for it) and put them on stage. Usually the shiest and most awkward one ends up winning, just because the crowd will go nuts for anything they do.

That's a horrible thing to do. >.<

idk, I'm generally party crazy, but hmmm :)

But anyway, usually dances in general work very well, obviously you're not going to get everyone to come, but at least in my school [800 students total] about 300-400 will come and it's usually just three hours of grinding, just get a good DJ or you could have a revolt.

Although the battle of the bands is usually a very good moneymaker in our school garnering in a few thousand, since it attracts all ages, so if you're in it for the money then definitely go with this one, though I personally prefer a nice dance.

That may be true, but it's become tradition at my high school. Usually the ones that got called were younger brother of seniors or freshman trying to make varsity in football or soccer...or "little brothers" (seniors are assigned to groups of freshmen) of the booster club.

Personally, I'm not a fan of dances...but there's never been a good concert that I haven't had a good time at.

I see. I'm sure it's not too terrible, but I'm not shy, and I would hate to be forced on stage to perform.

Hey EVeryone! Thanks for the great ideas. Man i'm writing all this stuff down. I'm thinking perhaps a dance of some sort. But I gotta run it and all. It'll be some work. But I gotta make it great.

Any other great ideas? ^^v keep em comin'
