hey hopeful Tischies! I was just recently accepted into the Summer Film School on full tutiion and I CANT WAIT!! but I do have a friend of mine who was an admissions officer and he told me atleast for the film school that it puts you ahead SOOOOOOOOO many kids…he can say atleast 75 to 80% of the kids who attend the summer film school were accpeted undergrad…even if you are still doubtful do the summer prog. you never know!!! and for those who will be doing the film school this summer see ya there!!!

WOW Full tuition, congratulations!..how did you manage that? Any suggestions for where to get some financial help to pay for summer programs?

hey, I got rejected from cap21. not even waitlisted it really sucks because there were not many places that I could apply because of my age, I was eight days too young to apply to cmu! (I don’t turn 16 until most of the programs have already started, which is against a lot of their policies). I am doing an intensive at Westminster Choir College instead, which should be nice. Next year (I’ll finally be old enough) I’m planning on applying to Northwestern, NYU (Tisch), NYU (Steinhardt), CMU, and CAP21 (non-NYU). Would my rejection from NYU hurt me when applying next year, or should I still keep trying despite my rejection?

I think it’ll only help you!!! I wouldn’t be discouraged at all because I’m sure the biggest reason was your age.

Thanks, I really wish I could know more about why I didn’t get in. I actually don’t know if I was even within the right age range to apply to the nyu program in the first place (lol), although I applied anyway. Because I think you have to be 16 to get housing, which is required for the program, which I wouldn’t have been able to get because of my age… I don’t really know, though. Does anyone have any suggestions on what they might be looking for if I apply next year?

Yeah I got accepted for the film workshop in NYC!!! Woot and I got a full scholarship! Im glad I did because I didn’t have a single pretty penny to pay for it. : ) congrats to the rest of you all to! I hope I see you this summer.

megasinger, i’m pretty sure someone on here got rejected one year, and then was accepted the next year, so it def. won’t hurt to try again!

(sidenote-I just got accepted to ETW and I’m 15 until the end of September, but they said that they would handle all things dealing with housing…)

to CalMTMOM:
I have no clue all I can say is that I’m blessed and it was ment to be. I know how competitve it was this summer, and Im very happy that I was selected. Does anyone know how many Scholorships were actually offred?

to Lampoonlion:
I hope to see you there!!

does anyone know how much can attending this summer program actually help? when applying undergrad? for the film school atleast not CAP21

Hey all! I have been accepted to the Lee Strasberg program for this summer!!! I’m SOOO excited! Good luck to all! Also, if anyone else on here was accepted there is a facebook group for it. Just search for NYU Tisch Summer or something along those lines!

i think it’s been said a lot that going to a summer program very rarely effects your chances when applying for undergrad. at some schools like northwestern, MANY cherubs get accepted every year, and a lot may be accepted from Tisch’s summer program, but there are also tons who get into schools without going to any pre-college program…So basically don’t go to a summer program just to improve your chances of getting into that college, go for the fun, exciting learning experience :)

I have been trying to figure out exactly the course work offered in the program. The website and even the brochure are kind of generic. Can anyone who did this program in the past or is the parent of a student who did it give information as to the specifics of the program? I am also interested how it breaks down in terms of time. For instance, is the dance, singing and acting given equal time or do they concentrate more on acting? Thanks so much.

My S got accepted to CAP21 audition program (not Tisch) for this summer. He submitted right before deadline and heard within 10 days. He is so excited! (FYI…He went to CMU last summer going into Junior year and he said the level of talent in that program was quite amazing. It was intense…but he had the best experience and his skills greatly improved) From all the comments here, it seems the Tisch CAP21 is more intense than the CAP21 non Tisch??.. Does anyone know the difference? (don’t they share some professors and rooming etc…? Does anyone know if there is more respect given to the Tisch-CAP kids because IT is through NYU? Does anyone have input on the differences of the two CAP programs?? Now on to the housing situation. As a non-NYU student he is just an ‘associate’ and he gets leftover after anyone enrolled in NYU is placed. He, thankfully, he just got word that he was assigned to Hayden Hall.(we thought it would’ve taken a long time to hear. From what I hear Hayden is traditional housing but at least it is air-conditioned and has its own dining hall. Anyone else assigned to housing and going to CAP21 (non Tisch)? We’d love contacts to anyone going…and where they are housed? Any information at all is appreciated.

As far as the difference between the two CAP21 pre-college programs (the Tisch/NYU/CAP one vs. the just CAP21 one)…a lot has been written about that on this forum in the past.

Here is one thread on that topic:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/nyu-tisch-mt/653531-tisch-cap-21-summer-vs-cap-21-audition-summer.html

Read that one that compares the two, and then scroll through all the thread titles on each page of the NYU/Tisch forum and there are many threads on each of these two programs. There’s a lot here. Right now, you are on the Tisch summer program thread. There are also threads just on the CAP21 one.

flady, having a D, who attended Tisch’s CAP21 summer program, and one of my best friends, whose D did the CAP21 by audition version, I can tell you that in regard to actual CAP classes the programs are remarkably similar.

Where they differ is that the Tisch kids have “regular/academic” classes on top of the performing arts related classes, and also have homework as this program comes with college credit. Some would argue that this is why it is more intensive. Also, the Tisch kids have less “free time” as most evenings/weekend are taken up by organized & supervised “field trips” to see shows, go to museums etc., whereas the CAP kids are “on their own”.

i was accepted to the cap 21 tisch program!

theusername- Were you accepted into the NYU high school summer program or undergraduate? When did you find out? Were you wait listed?

When is the final day that the admitted students have to respond if they are going for the summer program? I am wait listed and anxious to know what is happening!

ilovetheater- i was accepted into the high school summer program. I found out about a week ago and no i was not wait listed. i think response and payment is due near the end of the month so maybe you will hear after that is due.

Congratulations to you!

thank you!!
