Tisch HS Summer Program?

Hi Azizi2012! This past summer I attended the NYU Tisch Acting Program in Paris and had a wonderful experience! I was an incoming senior and I think they do give preference to current HS juniors. I am not really familiar with the HS Film Narrative but have heard all of the programs are amazing.

When I applied, I submitted two recommendation letters. The first one from my HS Representative (Principal of the arts magnet school I attend) and second was a voice teacher at my school. So no, I do not think both can be teachers because one has to be someone like a counselor or Principal.

Good luck!

Thanks! But do you know for certain that one must be from a counselor? Is a teacher not considered a high school representative?

No, I am not certain. I recommend calling the Tisch HS program and ask them. They will have the correct answer for you.

I’m considering applying to the summer 2010 new program for acting. I was wndering if anyone who had been accepted had any suggestions about the essays and reccomendations. Bcause it is so heavily based upon that I want to be sure mine are up to par. Also, how competitive is it? I have excellent academics and reccomendations but my resume, though fairly impressive I guess, consists mostly of high school producions. is that ok??
thanks!

^^^ i’d like to know the same…i have a really strong resume, strong recommendations, and a good essay, but the only problem is my GPA is 2.9, because we have not been re ranked yet. My GPA for the past cycle however is a 3.8 and I sent in that information as well. I just wanna know how much the GPA really affects my chances.

Hi,
I was wondering the same as the following students. I am applying to the Dramatic Writing course. I was wondering what exactly should I place in my resume.

Has anyone else’s application been wiped clean? The deadline was extended to today 5 p.m. EST. I am…I don’t even know what to do.

I have a student who is also having continued difficulty submitting her application which was ready last Thursday. It is not the same as you are describing but it cannot be submitted. She has emailed them with the specific issue that is happening and is also calling them today. I suggest you do the same. By emailing, you are also documenting that you tried to submit it on time but had these technical difficulties. Further, this student got an email from Tisch last Friday that acknowledged that the site was having tech problems and they extended the deadline. So, they KNOW there are issues. However, there are STILL problems based on my student’s experience (as of late last night, the last time we spoke) and your post as well. Please email AND call Tisch about it. I would not fret as it seems you are not alone and they should be able to give you leeway if you tried to submit on time but that the site is not working for you. Make sure that you contact them one way or another before the deadline about this problem.

mine did too! i went to upload my resume, and everything was gone. i’m freaking out.

It’s reassuring to see that it seems to be a system problem (rather than my personal mistake with my application)! I’ve tried calling, to no avail, so I emailed the office as soozie also suggested-- they now have a written record of my attempt.

Miine finally started working, but I have no idea if they got my documents on time or not.

My student informed me this morning that she was able to reach Tisch by phone yesterday and they solved her problem which allowed her to finally submit the application. Her tech problem was not the same as the one described by others here but the upshot was that it didn’t allow her to submit the app. So, do contact Tisch, as you are not the only one with a tech problem and check it out to reassure yourself.

I e-mailed them, no worries. Good luck on your student’s admission!

I am glad you got in touch and I hope they replied and that things get sorted out on your online submission. I am sure they will as it is not your fault. I reported back here this morning with follow up regarding my student just to let ya know, since there is comfort in numbers (this was clearly a tech problem on the school’s end of things).

Good luck to you too with the Tisch program and any others you are applying to!

Yo Azizi, what’d you end up doing? I called Tisch before getting my reccomenders and they said teachers were okeedokee

That’s what I did. I had a choir director from freshman year (still jr high where I’m from) and an AP English teacher:)

Haha yep, a little late in responding, but I emailed them and they said it was fine

Does anyone know if we find out by emails to our personal email or our parents when it comes time in early april?

last year they sent an email to go to the site and then you could check your status on the NYU site. Best of luck to all

They said we’d be notified in the first week of April so does that mean April1- April 7?
Anyone who applied last year remember when they were notified exactly?

and AlanaW and others whose apps were wiped clean, how did you manage to re-aply by the 26th all over again? When you say they had a written record, does that mean they still had your entire app saved or something?
Hope things worked out

If you read through the thread we are on right here, people posted last year on this thread that they received their acceptances on April 3.
