I'll stop then, 'cuz I'm all for Socal.

hella...really lame word. haven't heard it in a while but I have to concur that it's a big no no in socal. go to san diego, easy decision.

Just say no to "hella".

sorry, but does anyone know when is the absolute deadline for me to send in an appeal letter? thanks.

I'm hella gonna get my ass kicked at UCSD.

What about "word"? You know...like when someone says something is cool, and you're like "Oh, word." No? Yeah?

Whatever, dude...I'll learn the lingo sooner or later.

As for the deadline to send your appeal, I think it's around mid-April. UCLA's is the 14th, Berkeley's is the 15th...You should double-check. I'm sure it's on their website somewhere.

"Wicked" is my personal favorite. Has the whole east coast thing working for it.

There's always "Brilliant", for the "across the pond" flavor.

I can tell you're a Harry Potter fan.

joemama as I was reading this thread I was thinking how wicked funny it is!

in this one book i was reading...Lord of the Flies...they say stuff is "wizard" I am wizard =]

Sucks to your assmar!

Btw, swts0litude, "word" is fine... I don't use it personally though, ppl say I'm a surfer-type.

I can't say "wicked" without thinking of a sub-par Sandler movie, so I dont :D

Pretty much everything but hella is free game

say no to ucla appeal
say no to uci
say no to hella
say yes to ucsd!

i'm from norcal too. it's been hard eradicating "hella" from my vocab. I don't know if "beezy" needs to be done away with as well

I'm from NorCal and I never hear beezy here......

listen some of that new "hyphy" music going around and you will

i feel so un-norcal-ian. last time i said "hella" was a long time go. unless i say it unconsciously.

OK, I don't actually go to UCSD, just a prospective. Do have friends that go there, and have been doing research into the matter. The biggest problem with UCSD is the fact that there's no real college town. As a result, alot of the already anti-social or shy just end up staying in their dorm and playing computer games all day. Sports aren't too good so theres not a ton of school spirit on that end. But believe me, if you want to be social and meet new people, I'd say that there's plenty of friendly, outgoing, (good looking), cool people around. You might have to look a little harder to find them then at say San Diego state, but they're there.
Part two of that argument is that when I say being social, I don't mean going out and getting drunk. If getting wasted is your idea of fun, go to San Diego state! Personally I love to party and meet people, just without the getting wasted part, and I'm sure I'll have no prob at UCSD.

Yeah, see, that's my idea of having fun, too. I don't understand why people think getting drunk and having to deal with a horrible hangover the next morning is fun. Or cool. Getting buzzed? I understand. But drunk? No thank you.

As long as there are people that like to chill, that like to dance, socialize, take a midnight drive out every once in a while, then I'll definitely love UCSD as a whole.

I've always been an LA girl. I love the city, I love activity...so I hope San Diego won't be too significantly different... :

i've been to UCSD campus a couple of times.. my sister goes there. It's super chill and relaxing, a real nice spot to vacation. I love it there. the people are friendly and nice. But I'm from LA too and I dont know if i can stand the "chill" for four years. My sister is really social and missed the fast-paced LA life where you can find a place to be open at 2 a.m....

but SD is pretty darn strong in the academics, esp. sciences.

What most say, it's "college (social life) is what you make of it"...at SD, that's really true.. whereas at LA, everything's there for the taking.

^ I totally agree on the different lifestyle between LA and SD.. it was actually one of the reasons I was worried about going to LA for college (you like what you're used to, I guess). Whenever I go to LA I feel like everybody is on edge, about to snap (esp. when driving). I <3 "the chill" :D
Of couse I'm not saying LA is bad... it's awesome. Just a different mentality..

oh crap, i'll hella get hated on if i decide to go to sd.
