I read that cadets are to bring their razor and toothbrush. Can the cadet bring a backup supply of razor blades, deoderant and toothpast? After the school year is in full swing, where and when do cadets purchase grooming items that need replenished? Is cologne permitted? Do the cadets keep their grooming items in a toiletry bag? If so, what style would current cadets recommend?

We can bring extra stuff, but there's no telling what they'll let us keep. We'll definately get it back after basic, but will probably have to use the issued stuff during. We get issued a toiletry bag. We will be able to buy anything we need at the cadet store, and if not there we could borrow a car to go to Wal-Mart. I'm fairly certain cologne is allowed after basic.

I thought all we are to bring (for males) is a razor or electric shaver, and shaving cream...do we have to bring a toothbrush (or anything else), or is everything besides the razor just issued to us?

I was told by some cadets that they probably won't take away your toiletries...so if you want to bring items like a toothbrush or deodorant, you should be fine.

Personally I'm bringing what I normally use (deodorant, tooth brush, tooth paste, etc.) and that way it's there, whether I get it during beast or afterward.

I looked over the list of all the issued things. Last year, these were the toiletries that were issued: chapsticks, deoderant, dental floss, toothbrush, toothpaste. (Shaving cream, razor, and electric shaver were not issued). If you want me to fax the list (around 4 pages), you can private message me and leave your fax number.

Is it practical to bring an electric razor (will we be able to use it during beast?)

At the appointee orientation, they say males will be expected to shave everyday during beast (sometimes twice). Electric shaver would make it so much easier. You could probably shave in your bed. But since the appointee bookelet said that males should bring a razor "or" an electric shaver, I'd assume you are allowed to have them during beast.

I heard you can use a electric during beast (for guys it might be practical b/c it will cut down on time, for girls there is no point in even shaving during beast) And you got to the store like the first day or something (and you better get everything you need then because the next time you go is like the fourth week).

And, one last question...is absolutely everything that we are going to be issued issued to us on I-Day, or do some things come a little later

Every cadet I've talked to said bring electric.

However, during Jack's you may not have an electrical outlet (depends if it's changed). Anyway, if your electric can maintain a charge for a few weeks of shaving you're set. If not you may have to go manual.

Forget the electric. You cant always depend on electricity. ;)

Has anyone considered the battery style? They are rechargable.

We're issued everything we'll need for basic on I-day, but I think some other things are issued later on like winter "parkas" and skirts (for females...).

I'm going electric battery and plan on just relying on the charge during Jack's.

I'm bringing a rechargable electric one..... and during Jack's, I'm depending on the fact that I can't grow facial hair beyond peach fuzz anyway so it's really not that big of a deal in my situation.

AFADAD2010, you might see what I am talking about.

Your battery ought to last the 2 weeks, right?

Lol, it should last the entire BCT...

That's what I thought, I was confused. Most last a good amount of time (45-60 minutes at least).

Mine usually lasts me a good 2 months lol. Laugh if you wish, but I actually have never manually shaved. So, if I have to, that would be a bad experience.
