The Norwegian women’s beach handball team got fined for refusing to wear bikini bottoms and opting for shorts instead. I’m not familiar enough with the rules to know what the specifics are for each sport regarding uniforms so maybe they are completely different.
I would like the men to play in tiny speedos as well. Isn’t that fair?

Yes, beach handball has different uniform rules (different governing body). Beach volleyball doesn’t require bikinis; they have the option of tanks and shorts. Most female players I know actually get angry when people suggest they shouldn’t play in bikinis. They prefer the “freedom of movement.” I don’t play, so I defer to their preference. Handball players don’t have that freedom of choice yet.

I also thought it was weird that the women were getting called by their first names in beach volleyball, but then realize it was not all of the teams, so I guess they have a choice. I guess it’s supposed to be a chill California thing, but it feels unprofessional to me. Oh yeah, I forgot they are all amateurs.

TBH, it’s not like either the men or women beach v-ball players have physiques born from Greek mythology. 
Watching the men’s 5k. Some of these distance runners look miserable. Woody Kincaid peeled off and tossed his arm sleeves.
Loving this 10k race; Ashley looks great! I can’t imagine doing it in 84° water

Oh no… sad news. Raven Sounders’ mother passed away today. 
Sounds like it was completely unexpected.

Americans not making the 4x100 relay. What??? UGH
Wow, the Dutch woman named Hassan is amazing. She’s the runner who fell down and then won the 1,500m heat without even trying a couple days ago.
Then she won gold for the 5,000m.
Tonight I watched her lay back in last place in the 1,500m semifinal and then on the last lap “wooosh”, she wins it without even any huffing and puffing.

Sifan Hassan is one of a kind. I thought she was done after that heats fall… nope. 
She is more of a 5k or 10k runner.
Missed this! This local young woman is an amazing athlete. Diagnosed with hip dysplasia, she had to give up running. And she won a gold medal in Tokyo… in a different spot.

She could be the first man or woman to win gold at one Olympic Games in the 1,500, 5,000 and 10,000.
