My wife and son went to TSW in March -- loved NOLA, Tulane, and the whole experience. For those going in April the TSW March 2014 thread is probably worth reading, but in honor of my buddy @jocjarmom I figured it might be helpful to have a separate April thread.

It's probably obvious, especially to the type of kids/parents who are on CC, but it's a good idea to go over the schedule of talks, events, classes to have some rough idea (in advance) which events you're going to attend. And of course get out in NOLA. One of the biggest surprises to us was how much our son just loved New Orleans.

Good luck. Feel free to share questions and impressions.

Thanks @AsleepAtTheWheel, my daughter and husband are heading down to NOLA on Saturday. I’ve read the March thread, but I’m excited for her to get another look at this terrific school. I’m looking forward to hearing their report on the weekend.

My son and I are heading to NOLA on Saturday for Top Scholars Weekend and just got the email about the Crawfest. Is anyone planning on attending the event Saturday night? I am confident my son would much rather meet up with some potential Tulane students than have me tag along. Looking forward to seeing what Tulane is all about.

@Living61 – your best bet is to go to the Tulane Decisions threads from this year. Individual posts may include mention of the TS weekend. If not, you can probably assume that if there was a merit award of $25K or higher there was also an invite to TS weekend.

That’s a good summation, @AsleepAtTheWheel. There are no fixed stats for this, but in general you are talking ACT of 32+, SAT of 2200+. GPA in top 10% of class with a challenging schedule, such as a number of AP courses (assuming the high school offers them).

So my husband and daughter are off to New Orleans now. Hoping they can get a good feel for the school, even with all the predicted rain. Can’t wait to hear what people think about it… I’ll try to get enough info so I can share their thoughts too.

All the rain wound up going to Mississippi, so it was pretty nice out. Sunday was very humid and in the mid-to-upper 70s right through the night. Early Monday morning, it rained a bit, and it was in the 60s for most of the day Monday. But, while I had a good time, I ultimately decided that I like a couple other places better.

@SurvivorFan - OK, thanks for the update. I had only seen that they had big red heavy storm warnings and flash flood warnings on the Weather Channel site. Good that it wasn’t so bad after all.

Good that you got to see the school anyway. Where do you think you will end up?
