Top Ten most Prestigious Public Universities

collegebiomed, great statistics you were able to provide about Rutgers. It’s really a great school and for many reasons why I ranked it in the top 10 in response to OP question.

rjk, what’s with the insults?

you specifically stated that Michigan is the best well rounded university. I disagree and asked you to prove that you are correct.

even now you are posting false statements. Why in the world would you state that UC Berkeley doesn’t have a music department as you are falsely stating below?..why in the world would you state that UC Berkeley doesn’t have a theater department, as you are falsely stating below?..why in the world would you state that UC Berkeley doesn’t have a dance department as you are falsely stating below?

collegebiomed, thanks for the information…

so now according to rjk’s definition of what a Well Rounded University is, RUTGERS, AND NOT MICHIGAN should be considered the best “World Rounded University”

thanks again, this clears up what rjk was attempting to say…

Michigan is superior in music, theater, and the dance. I admit I didn’t know Berkeley had those departments because I never see them discussed on CC in the college majors sections. In the meantime, you still haven’t addressed all of the other areas where Michigan does have programs and UCB does not. That was my orginal point. By the way, the music department at Michigan blows away UCB.

So what? There are other large schools besides UCB that are more well rounded. They just aren’t as good as Michigan. You are just being stubborn.

JohnAdams12, I just stated Michigan has 19 schools whereas Rutgers only has 18 schools on collegebiomed’s list. rjkofnovi’s point still stands. Read #260.

I just checked that list. Other than criminal justice, Michigan offers all of those disciplines plus Kinesology, Public Health, and Natural Resources. Nice try…

rjk, wrong again…UC Berkeley has been ranked in the top 3 universities in the U.S. for music…much much much better than Michigan…

so now you are saying that Michigan has 4 departments that are ranked higher than UC Berkeley?

OK…Explain to us how Michigan, with 4 departments that are ranked higher than UC Berkeley, is the best “Well Rounded University” in the U.S. when UC Berkeley has about 90 departments ranked higher than Michigan?

Actually, even though I will be going to Michigan, I don’t think its music program is superior to that of Berkeley. But I will be happy if you proved me wrong hehe

Michigan’s 2 schools of Medicine and Dentistry = Rutger’s 1 University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ

How does Michigan’s dividing up of departments into schools account for a more breath of education?

And Rutgers has 220 research centers across the campus.

rjk, why would you make such a moronic comment like this without knowing the facts?

are you really that dense?

Well, here’s polisci :D

[Rankings - Political Science - Graduate Schools - Education - US News and World Report](http://grad-schools.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-graduate-schools/top-political-science-schools/rankings)

recharge, you are correct on this…UC Berkeley has had one of the top 3 music deparments in the U.S. for a long time…

There are no rankings for music schools. Just go to the music majors section on CC and check things out. People there are much more knowledgeable than either one of us.

I think you guys are confusing the Berklee School with Berkeley. LOL.

rjk, but according to your definition of “best” well rounded universities, because Michigan doesn’t have a department that Rutgers has, then Rutgers would be the best Well Rounded University in the country, wouldn’t it?

Collegebiomed. I was considering breadth of schools AND quality. Sorry, Rutgers is not in Michigan’s league overall…

Wait a second here, according to the Rutgers list, collegebiomed, are you referring to the New Brunswick campus or ALL the Rutgers satellite branches?

So far, rjkofnovi and I are only referring to the Ann Arbor campus…

It’s not fair to include all the Rutgers branches (for example, New Brunswick is over 30 miles from Newark). Otherwise, we will need to include Flint and Dearborn.

Also, add this 4 more schools to Rutgers:
SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH
GRADUATE SCHOOL OF BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES
SCHOOL OF OSTEOPATHIC MEDICINE
SCHOOL OF HEALTH RELATED PROFESSIONS

And again if you want to divide UMDNJ further like you did for Michigan then add,
NEW JERSEY DENTAL SCHOOL
ROBERT WOOD JOHNSON MEDICAL SCHOOL

That takes Rutger’s tally to 24 compared to Michigan’s 19.

OK John Adams, you win. Considering you can’t differentiate between the Berklee School and Berkeley, I won’t argue with you anymore.
