How competitive are transfer admissions compared to freshmen admissions?

I applied as a freshman and was rejected (OOS with a 2260 SAT and about 3.5 UW GPA).

I'm currently a freshman at University of Alabama and looking into transferring after sophomore year. My dad currently lives in Florida and my mom might be moving to Florida within the next year, so I think I will be able to apply as in-state.

My major will probably be something in Arts & Sciences.

What GPA should I be aiming for to have a good chance of acceptance?

Will you have completed an AA? Transferring to UF (or any decent Florida university) without an AA, from out-of-state, is very, very, very difficult–even more difficult than freshman admissions. To be blunt, your only hope is if UF recognizes an AA from your school. I don’t know if UF recognizes OOS AAs.

Agree with above poster.
Transferring without your AA is very, very competitive and transferring
without your AA as an out of state applicant is impossible.

I saw a statistic somewhere that said like 225 out of 2250 applicants were accepted from an OOS institution to UF. So about 10% will end up being accepted. So competitive yes, but not impossible.
