Hi, I am currently a freshman at CUNY Baruch and I don't like it here. I thought I wanted to study business and stay in Manhattan, but I realized almost immediately that it is not the school for me. The course selection is very limited and the entire college revolves around business. Almost every professor I've had this semester has at one point or another made a disclaimer about how the specific topic we were learning relates to business. I've looked over Columbia's directory of classes and they seem very interesting and cool! Obviously, Columbia is very selective especially for transfer students but I was just wondering, for those students who are planning on transferring or that have transferred, what was the process like and what schools did you transfer into? Also, for someone like me who wants to transfer into a great school like Columbia or another top-tier school, which university would you suggest? What I mean by that is Harvard only accepts roughly 15 transfer students per semester, while Cornell accepts roughly 700, so what other top universities with transfer friendly rates would you recommend?

I’m applying for fall 2015.

I would recommend Dartmouth, and maybe UPenn

There is no way to know if you would be competitive for those schools without knowing your HS stats, etc. And last stats I saw on Harvard were 15 accepted students per year.

If you aren’t happy at CUNY Baruch you can either find good colleges that you can afford and that are likely to accept you (and maybe apply to a “top” college as a kind of lottery ticket), or spend time and energy focusing on the most selective colleges in the country to which you (and everyone else) are unlikely to be admitted.

My decision to go to Baruch was not entirely based on its price; I do not mind taking out loans and receiving financial aid. I honestly wouldn’t say it’s that big of a stretch for me to get into a top school as my credentials are quite high.
