Transfer Chances?

I am currently a freshman at the College of William & Mary and am I strongly considering transferring to UT. Though W&M is excellent, it just isn't my type of school. I was rejected when applying for freshman admission. I'm really not sure how much state residency factors into transfer admissions.

should i take calc? (took in HS but didnt take the AP test)

Total Credits for Sem 2: 15

Any suggestions for courses I should take to improve my chances?

Will more emphasis be placed on my HS record?

Thanks!

I'm almost postitive that you have to take Calc I to be elgible to transfer to McCombs.

And also, your HS record will not be considered for transfer admissions. Basically, your GPA is the most important factor for transfer admission. After that, Essays.

take a look at the link below for course requirements a transfer needs to get into the business school.

Business | Transfer | Be a Longhorn

it looks like you're missing cal1 and BCIS/MIS at minimum. to maximize your application fee, take all five courses listed and ace them.

once you get accepted as a transfer, you'll need to submit your high school transcript so submitting it early is not a bad idea. there could be a chance that it is reviewed to your benefit.

alright, if i just decide to stick with COLA, and maintain a similar GPA to what i currently have, should i be in? Thanks!

You have to have 30 credits completed before you can be admitted. Your stats look great though, so if you keep it up, you should get in.

And your HS record and SAT/ACT scores will not be considered

Right, I called UT yesterday to make sure I have the right amount of credits, so as long as I take 11+ credits next semester, I will have enough. Thanks senohjan.

If I am reading the table correctly, the 5 on the AP Spanish test should eventually be worth more credits at UT if you "claim" it at UT after you are admitted. I think you will get 9 additional credits, for 312K, 312L and 318.

AP Cut Scores

I'm not quite sure how that works. WM already granted me 6 credits for it so I think its done with? Also, since I need 30 credits to be eligible for transfer, I may need those 6 already granted to be able to transfer next year. Maybe I can have my tests reevaluated after I get there If I'm admitted and decide to go.

Right, after you get there. You claim it. I think UT will give you credit for two years of Spanish with an AP score of 5, so I am pretty sure you will be able to add 6 credits for second year Spanish (312K, 312L) and maybe 3 more credits for 318.
