Transfer contemplating major change

I originally applied as a literature major to UCSC which I was accepted for Fall of 2012, and I am strongly considering changing to a computer science major. It seems the logical choice would be to stay at the community college level to finish the prerequisites for the computer science courses instead of getting my degree in Literature while working on the GE's for computer science. I am seriously split on the decision because I've worked so hard to get to this point, and UCSC is such a great atmosphere. At the same time though I've learned through my experience that instant gratification is never the best route, but having a degree first would not be a bad thing. What are your thoughts?

Well, sounds like you know how either route works. I guess it really boils down on whether or not you want to spend an additional year or two at a CC to knock on CompSci requirements before transferring. Is the transfer atmosphere worth paying the extra money it would cost to attend UCSC? I’m missing a few pre-reqs (I have yet to receive my acceptance so far…the wait is a killer!) because they are not offered at my CCC, but I am hell bent of getting the heck out of this CC. Can’t spend another year here. So, do YOU think it is worth your time, money and insanity to transfer or not? Totally up to you. Good luck! :)

Yeah I definitely feel like spring boarding out of here, geez. I have a month to decide, so I guess I’ll be diving in some calculus, and javascript books to see if I really want to do this lol. The wait definitely had me anxious, hope all goes well. Thanks for the reply!

^Amen. I’ve got my nose in my Calc book all of the time to try to take my mind off of not receiving a single acceptance yet. Hope you figure everything out!
