Transfer decision

So you guys are summer applicants?? Should post the stats also

^I’m wondering if there is any acceptance for fall applicants yet? Feeling really nervous. If I don’t get in, it’s all over. D:

I emailed admissions two days ago and they said no fall transfers had been notified of acceptance yet. Furthermore, my advisor used to work in admissions and said those who applied to Fosters usually get notification first around mid may. So if you applied to the school of business your wait may nearly be over. Those of us not applying to Fosters may have to continue the edge of or seat waiting period awhile longer. :(

@Jsmith210, thanks for the reply :).

Could those that received decision letters, is it possible if you could post your stats? :D

@kevinsauer if you don’t mind me asking, what are your stats and intended major?

@Jsmith210, My major is chemistry. My overall GPA is 3.95 and prerequisites GPA is 4.0

The bad thing is I don’t have any extracurricular activity and my personal statement is not that great, I even made a typo…

Oh geez your stats are really good. I don’t think I’d fret too much. I have a 3.54 overall and 3.92 for my major ( anthropology). I took two technical classes my first quarter and got really sick. Instead of taking the incomplete to finish them later, I was stubborn and ended up with two C’s, thus the 3.54. Plus I have no high school transcripts ,was away from school for twenty years training racehorses, had three kids and didn’t get my GED until I was 34. I have no EC’s because I have three kids, a husband, and am taking a full load at school. Sorry for the lengthy response, but I’m hoping my rather tarnished academic history might make you feel better :)

Can anyone explain how to calculate the GPA for the major? I mean the prerequisites gpa? Thank you

Congrats @masha000 @lovelysanga! Please tell us your stats.

@rockyuw, scroll down to the “Computation of GPA.”

[UW Grading System](University of Washington Office of the Registrar)

They have a few examples of calculating the GPA. You have to remember, however, that they use your schools grading system and not theirs! That’s why there is a huge variance between the +/- numbering (i.e., A- 3.8-3.5, B+ 3.4-3.2, etc.). If you need more help, let me know, as I can calculate it for you.

Does the department only count the prere courses? Or general?

@rockyuw, well what major did you apply to? Admissions uses the overall transfer GPA, while your department may only use your prerequisite courses to calculate our GPA. They will, however, still see your entire transcript and know your overall transfer GPA.

My major is Electrical Engineering. Thanks for helping me out. Can you help me to count my major GPA?

Yes! Send me a message with your information.

Already sent you an email :)

Department might use Major GPA only, but most likely they will consider Major GPA and Cumulative GPA, but weight them differently.

@kevinsauer i had a 3.6 gpa, pre-nursing (so general admission), with around 85ish transferrable credits, and transferred from CC (but went to uw before)!

Hey guys,
So if you’re accepted and don’t apply to a major, will MyUW list the major from your application and put it as “pre-major?”

I received my acceptance letter this afternoon
In case anyone is interested, I am pre engineering, and my transfer GPA was in the 3.8 range (but trending sharply upward).

Congrats to the rest of you who were accepted, and good luck to those still waiting to hear.

Hi guys,

I just got accepted by Foster School of Business for fall 2013! They sent me an email in the afternoon to ask me check online for the result. And of course, its contingent upon me being admitted to UW itself.
Goodluck to the rest still waiting!

@Ryno, congrats! are you a fall transfer?
@Kirosky, congrats! :)
