here is the thing. i used the paper application so i have never got to set up a myuw account . thus, i dont know how to check the unofficial transcript. maybe they are just mailing me the instruction of how to be on myuw? :(

hmm, all the things i have got so far from uw are the do’s and don’t’s email several days after i had summit the transfer app, the fafsa confirmation email from the financial office, and the email for asking my current address a couple days ago. how could you guys be on myuw? did you get an email or mail for that? or did you use the same log in info on the online app?

i still hope it was/will be a decision letter tho. i just wanna get it over with. ugh.

I emailed the UW admission office yesterday and they told me that decisions for transfer applications (autumn 2013) are being send out from now until July. :(

@kevinsauer, sounds like there’s at least potential for us to hear back earlier than we expected!

@longhornedhusky, that’s probably it. The majority of us applied via the web. We received instructions in the mail on how to set up our MyUW accounts, which came a few weeks after I submitted my application. So, everything you’ll need to set that up will be through snail mail.

If anyone hears anything else or has a decision made on their application, please let us know!

UW Tacoma’s website also says transfer student decision letters will be mailed out by July, however I received my acceptance letter in the mail on April 2nd. Unofficial transcript was loaded March 30th.

How hard is it to transfer in UW computer science? If I don’t get admitted to CS right away, will they still admit to the college? How does that work, do I apply for a major once I’m in the college?

@mckinley1 did your message on your application status change? For example, mine still says “Thank you for applying for admission to the Seattle campus of the University of Washington for summer quarter 2013. We will inform you by postal mail when a decision is made on your application. If further information is needed, we will contact you via the email address listed below. Please make sure your email address is valid and check this site occasionally for information concerning your application. This message will not change unless additional information is required or until a final admission decision is made.”

Thank you. I was accepted to the UWT campus, in case that wasn’t clear. I think most of the posters on this thread have applied to UW Seattle. But the dates on the websites regarding decisions seem to be the same. Anyhow, my application status at first said something along the lines of… “your application is waiting to be reviewed”. About two weeks ago it changed to… “we have reviewed your application and will notify you by mail when a decision is made”. It wasn’t until they received my confirmation fee that it changed again.

So, I’m confused what is the truth for the Seattle campus? One person said someone said March 31st, the website says June to July, another says from now to July! Confusing! @_@

@marquishowchoir, I think the consensus was that the Seattle campus was beginning to notify applicants starting March 31st and will continue to do so, up until the end of July. I can’t personally confirm this, but several sources have. One individual called the admissions office and another individual e-mailed them and received a response. All of which indicate that they have begun notifying transfer applicants for Autumn 2013. Nothing was mentioned about summer applicants or whether or not there was any kind of process of who will be notified first.

@mckinley1, the Tacoma campus notifies transfer applicants 4-6 weeks after the application has been submitted and completed (i.e. once they have received all your transcripts). I personally was told this on numerous occasions when I had called and asked what was going on with my application; since I couldn’t find much information at the time about what their notification timeframe was. It’s much like that of a ‘rolling admissions’. Also, I knew about a week earlier that I was accepted as my unofficial transcript loaded and the status of the application changed itself before I ever received an offer of admission in the mail.

@bwwinthehouse, I’ve heard computer science is a pretty competitive major. I’ve also heard it’s very unlikely to be admitted as a transfer student without being admitted into your major (one of the reasons I believe transfer applicants are notified later). That being said, it’s not impossible to be admitted without being accepted into your major. Your major would be designated as ‘Pre-XXX’.

@psychguy since you said you heard it’s unlikely to be admitted into UW without being admitted into your major, would you happen to know the chances of being admitted if you haven’t directly applied for your major yet because you don’t have all the prereqs done?

@masha, if your plan is to have all the prerequisites done before admission along with 90 quarter credits, then that will increase your chances of getting accepted. Applying to your major depends on what major you’re going for. For example, if you want to major in history or biology, you can apply after getting into UW. For those competitive majors like engineering , the admission office would want the transfer applicants to start the major during their first quarter at UW.

@kevinsauer thank you for reply! that was helpful. I’m not getting my hopes up too high for admission because I’m prenursing, and my situation is that I will start at uw summer quarter and finish prereqs by winter in time to apply for their nursing school. Meh I feel like an acceptance for me isn’t likely because my situation doesnt really fit their preferable transfer student.
