transfer Fall 2012

^ I agree, since I applied for CLAS for summer B and got my decision about 3 weeks after they received my transcripts.

Those people applying to engineering… what are your majors and stats?
It’s most likely that they won’t make a decision until you have six out of the eight prereqs done.
If you’re going to have the done by the end of the spring semester, the answer will come around May.

My daughter received her acceptance to College Engineering back in early Feb. Our only concern is housing, since we have a friend that is a freshmen and living off campus due to shortage.

What were your stats and what was your major?

@mark2m what kind of engineering is your daughter majoring in? Do you mind posting her brief stats? Thanks.

Was she accepted for fall 2012?

FutureGator, my D, has unweighted 3.987, she is IB, and accord to UF, each A for IB is worth 1/2pt. so weighted should be in the area of 4.45. Starting in the Fall 2012, probably engineering physics. Her brother has eng.physics degree2011 and the only jobs available is shale gas and oil.
The oil companies are the only ones hiring, after 75 resumes etc… He did graduate with EIT test and 5 years of internship with EWB mainly in water transmission and hydrology, in Laos, Thailand, and Ecuador.

To be honest I have no idea what GPA UF must have calculated for mee because I moved around schools a lot and transferred once already so I have various GPAs. At my current school I have about a 3.7-3.8. I’m doing Pre Med and got accepted for Philosophy. I really do not think GPA is as important as people make it out to be. Ofcourse, it’s considered but its not THE determining factor. Also, people with “better”/excellent stats don’t always get an answer first (I suspect some of you might think that). What does have weight on your decision is if your major is over enrolled (limited access/high demand/popular), your ECs, and your essay. There’s no doubt that these factors were what favored my acceptance with a mediocre GPA.

Im a transfer student from wisconsin and i applied to the college of arts and sciences under a french major back in december and i was just accepted this week. I had the “your application has been referred to your college” message for about 2 months. I just stopped checking after awhile and then i got the letter in the mail. My GPA isnt anything spectacular 3.3-3.4 but Ive taken all the pre-reqs for engineering major so that may have been taken into consideration. Pretty excited to get accepted, pretty sure i got lucky!

Hey guys I have a question that I thought you guys would know the answer to. I’ll be getting my AA at the end of this semester. Do I have to apply for my AA or does UF think it is ok if I just have the requirements for it?

You need to apply for graduation from your CC of course you have to be finished with all the courses required to get AA.

Who are you referring to?

I’m transferring from UCF, but I’ll still get my AA from UCF.

Oops… I thought you are coming from CC my bad…
You don’t need to apply for AA. Once you have finished all the courses required to get an AA, it will show on your transcript, so once this term is over, you can just send in your transcript to UF.

Accepted! I’m a political science major (CLAS), transferring with an AA and applied with a 4.0 overall GPA. I’ll be starting Fall 2012.

congrats! :)

Congrats propwash!

FutureGator77, thank you for your help!

Where do you guys plan on staying once you get accepted?

I’m looking at Campus Lodge or The Estates. Based on the reviews, Lodge > Estates. There are others but those are my top two. My friend and I (he applied to the college of business, waiting on his final decision) are going up this weekend to just get the feel of the off-campus housing options we looked at and sign once we get in.

I already signed my lease for the Estates
I didn’t check our Lodge but I checked out a few places by campus, and they all seemed kinda old, or had sketchy neighbors. The Estates was very nice, and new looking. I need my own bathroom, so this was perfect. Plus I hear the pool parties are good, so you got the social aspect covered.

So nervous! Haven’t heard anything yet. Hoping to hear tomorrow …
