Transfer fall 2015

I am currently a freshman in college within the UW System at a four year public university. I am interested in transferring to Madison next year but am unsure if I should. I am worried about my high school gpa and college gpa not being good enough. In high school my grades weren't the best and substance abuse within my family affected me my sophomore and junior year I wasn't concentrated on school. My college gpa will be above a 3.0 but Im afraid it won't be high enough still. I am also involved in club sports team for university.

Any advice or thoughts?

The only way to be admitted is through applying.

That being said, it may take a few semesters of hard work (at your current college, I’m at UW-Platteville) before your GPA is within the adequate range.

You should be able to transfer, Just make sure you explain all of your difficulties in your written statements. I am in the same boat as you but my high school GPA was a 3.1 and my college hopefully will be about a 3.3.
