Transfer Playwright

I am currently a playwriting major at Columbia College Chicago and I am having issues at my program and looking to possibly transfer somewhere else. What are some other undergraduate playwriting programs that I should be looking at?

Playwrights Horizons at NYU

Yeah. I am applying there. I’m also applying to DePaul and as a new student at Fordham (they don’t accept transfers into the program).

Playwrights Horizons at Tisch is primarily an acting studio and applicants would have to go through the audition requirements for any other Tisch applicant. There also is no guarantee that an applicant would be placed there. If Tisch interests you, chiplaywright, the Dramatic Writing program is what you should be investigating. The artistic review’s portfolio requirements are writing samples, not an audition. There are very few openings for transfers into this program, however. Internal transfers are given priority.

Northwestern has a playwriting program but you’ll need the grades. Knox College has an amazing playwriting program which might work better for you.

More importantly, what are your problems and is there no way around them at Columbia? Are you sure there won’t be similar concerns at other schools?

My daughter is a playwriting/acting double major at Fordham. You can PM me with any questions. @amtc, how do you know she doesn’t have the grades for Northwestern?

I didn’t say that - I said she’d NEED the grades and offered her an alternative in case she didn’t have the grades or wanted a more flexible program.
