Transfer q

Unfortunately I didn't get into D this year.. and I'll be going to UT-Austin in the fall.

I really want to go to Dartmouth and I'll be applying as a transfer next year.

Any tips on how I can improve my chances?
Also, is it more difficult to get into Dartmouth as a transfer?

And..Can a transfer do Early Decision?

Also,
Besides the high school transcript, will I have to list the activities I participated in hs? (or only college-lvl)

Thanks all!

It is more difficult to get in as a transfer (10% I believe). There've been other threads about transfer on this board, you should search some of them. This link might help too: http://www.dartmouth.edu/apply/admissions/transfer/index.html
Having a high GPA seems to be the most important way to improve your chances. But, what you're doing in college (and what you did in high school) must be important too, b/c they ask for that information in the transfer application.
And no, transfer applications are only accepted in March (it's completely separate from the regular process for high school students).

But you might be surprised. Come March you may really enjoy UT-Austin and not want to transfer at all.

I am in the same predicament with people telling me the same thing. I will most likely be attending UCLA or USC, but dartmouth/brown were the two I wanted the most. From what I've read on the boards, maintain a 3.75+ GPA at wherever you go, retake SAT's if you have to, and continue the activities you did in high school so it doesn't look like you did them only for your college resume. Good Luck. Hopefully we see each other Fall 2007 at dmouth :)

mind sharing some numbers?

yuck 10% harder?

Anyone know approx how many kids apply as a transfer each year?

Also,
Will D already have a file on me, since I've already applied before.
And if so.. will that effect me in any way?

Numbers for transfer admission on page 14: http://www.dartmouth.edu/~oir/pdfs/CDS2005_2006.pdf

And yes, I think that they do reference your previous application when considering your transfer application.
